BTW, last weekend the Camaro went 8.80's @ 158mph using only one of the nitrous kits. It has license plates, 10" tires and gets street driven. That's how we do it in Texas.

That is like comparing apples to steak. Let me guess the Camaro's set-up.

Powerglide w/trans-brake, 4 link rear suspension or maybe ladderbars, 90/10 shocks, Ford 9" with 4.56s, 26" DOT wrinklewalls, and a serious stall converter.

Swanny is running a stock 5sp, stock gear ratio's, stock rearend, low profile radial tires, and exept for the coilovers they are on stock suspension.

8 secinds is fast no matter what your driving but pretty much any domestic can break 10s with slicks, high stall, and the proper aftermarket suspension set-up.

That pic does look purty though ;)

Wrong.
I have 245mm wide all season tires, coil overs and adjustable camber/toe/caster, 100%oem drivetrain minus clutch, flywheel and front diff.
oh, they are a 45 aspect ratio tall sidewall as well ;).

The usual internet keyboard cowboys. I'll back Swanny up on this one, xyz mods list or even dyno charts does not equal xyz timeslips. These cars are hard to tune and drive consistently at the track, and unless you have nothing better to do than be at the track every weekend, you're not going to see a 10-second pass out of a 10-second car right away. I've had a low 11-second car for six years, yet due to one thing or another, I've barely got out of the 12's. And I'd rather make my car nice while doing it than slapping some big turbo on a $500 piece of shit just for the sake of getting a nice timeslip. It takes a lot of money and time, and having the two never comes at the same time.

For those that think they can all do better because they've read about someone else doing it, get out and do it yourself instead of telling someone what their car *should* do.

Well put steve. Until people are waving timeslips, I'd say an 11 is quite an accomplishment. Woulda, coulda, but didn't. People should start turning that last word into DID.

I honestly am pretty blown away with an 11.5, I've never been in a car that fast, so it's a whole new frontier for me when i get in something with more than 400 hp.

As far as AWD goes, I was sad because i'd never experienced an AWD launcho before untill I remembered doing a burnout in a porsche 996TT at morries in the detail bay. lol. I got yelled at, but only by a minion, so it was all cool.

Fucking AMEN.
Oh and I am still trying for 10's this weekend though, we'll see what happens to prevent that.

Can it turn though?? I'm not using it as an excuse to defend swanny's car, as he , and many others, already have, but I am just wondering, would you feel comfortable taking corners at speed in that thing? Comparing a car with a purpose built drag suspension to a car with a suspension more suited for road racing isn't really fair. I would be curious to see what that camaro would do on some 245 width low profile all season tires, and no purpose drag suspension, since we want to be comparing apples to apples.

Again, to clarify, not hating on the camaro, or swinging from josh's nuts, but apples to apples, please.

Not trying to single anybody out. But enough of the cattle prodding. Post something worth while or don't post at all.

Otherwise I'll get more people reporting the post due to everyone knowing everything about everything and it does nothing but clutter up my e-mail! :D

Swanny's car is nuts! Vassil and EvilEvo are currently proven faster already and consistant from what I hear. Shane's got the top number. And overall these fast cars just get ripped on for trying new stuff and posting up how they are doing. Personally if people keep bitching then all the fast cars will keep shit to themselves and we wouldn't have all sorts of combos tested out. I have people bitching who have never made a pass at the track. Shut the fuck up please :) Rant off.

I guess I can't remember if anyone said this yet, but shouldn't this be moved to next winter?

About time someone mentioned about Vassil. His car is quick but most important it is consistant. Everytime I see it at the track it ran consistant times.

Hold the fuck on there. I didn't compare anything to anyone. This thread did not have anything to do with autocross until someone made it into a Camaro bash fest. I don't believe the car in the other lane was setup to autocross but nobody mentioned that. Let's revisit where this crap started. The title of this thread lead me to believe it was going to be about the fastest street car on this board. I honestly thought someone had ran faster than ecoli's car. It turned out to be about some mid eleven second passes. That is not the fastest street car, that is weaksauce.

I wonder why nobody mentioned anything about that statement... Let me explain where I was coming from, I wasn't complaining about a damn thing. Someone just needed to tell you to STFU already. I was in no way asking you to race. Your posts were full of excuse after excuse like a damn broken record. When you got offended by my STFU statement you decided it would be cool to tell me to "see my 'mid 11 second car' on the highway". You just happened to call out a "steak" instead of an "apple".

Like I said earlier, I hope you get your car where you want it to be and I also hope it goes around in circles like it's riding on rails and whatever goals you set it up for.

Somebody lock this thread. It turning into a bloody bashing thread instead of what it is intended to do. If I wanted to listen to this shit I would of still be part of some of those lame ass Honda sites. We all know who has some of the fastest street cars and most of us are trying to catch up with them. Who cares if you have a Honda, Chevy, Geo, Suzuki, DSM, Ford or some other car. If it is fast it is fast. Some of you guys are beginning to sound like bunch women wining. If you have a slow ass car and be like a man and admit it. If you don't even have a car and have something to say than just state the facts. Stop this cyber racing shit. I know most of the guys who is on this web site that can back their cars up and I for sure am not going to prove them wrong. Well someday when my car gets up and running but till than we all know who has the fasted car on this site. If you believe you are faster put a time slip up and prove yourself if not shut the f up. Man I justed wasted 2 min of my time writing this shit. Like I say shut up and lets race.
