The tune was fine and running great as I left it (he had numerous track and autocross days on it to prove it), problem is he didn't know what he was doing yet he was still making changes to the timing tables and I think he made some changes to the injector scaling too for some reason. As I left the car it wasn't knocking at all and nearly steady 11:1 AFR across the powerband. I put a ton of work into street-tuning the car once I moved to TX and then again when I converted to speed density.

Calvin (Cobb's tuner) has a lot of work in store for him getting everything working properly since there are so many hacks and emissions deletes done to the car ;)

the new owner had it at a different shop [for the past few months] and they haven't been making any progress on the trouble-shooting and tuning so he got frustrated and decided to take it to Cobb just so he can get it running properly and enjoy it.

We were talking about it last night, he let out a few long sighs while I was explaining what has all been done to the ECU, emissions, random sensors, etc. :D

The 4R lobes were flaking away. Cobb suspected they were regrinds, not actual new cores which is possible since they were from FP's first run.

No idea about the boost, but I doubt it since Cobb locks their tunes and it's ECU-controlled boost.

How well do the Evo 8/9 5-speed gearboxes hold up to a torque wall like that? What's the quickest point of failure once you start throwing ~500 lbs of TQ at them?

At that power level I don't think anything will break. The first thing to let go would probably be the transfer case though.

Gheyrod has moved on to another owner and is broken again. It's up at Cobb awaiting who knows what kind of repairs this time. The car was running too safe at 500whp so the Cobb tune was pulled off and it was then street-tuned...awesome, that worked out well.

It's still rocking the MitsuStyle stickers and red nose emblem though :p

I know EvoD tuned it after Cobb did, no idea what, if anything, the new owner has done though.

Poor Gheyrod, I think it's been broken more often than not since I sold it :(
