WoW! That's pretty sick, Congrats.

Trev ended up doing 11.5@126?mph, I lined up with another black wingless X MR. Hood shit!

I cut the best 60ft times of my life but couldn't get the car to shift at all. a little disapointed but the car was still running at the end of the day so it was a good day.

Best pass was 12.81@ 118 with a 1.9 60ft in the FWD missing 4th gear.

Re: Modern Automotive Performance 2nd Annual Sport Compact Proving Grounds June 26-27

Marks' car is crazy, he was one of the only AWDs have some decent luck. Jim went 11.3 his first pass, then a higher 11 his second and the clutch seems damaged now. Schiedes lost his clutch. The Primo Performance Evo is having some weird clutch problems too, had some boost problems at first but they got that figured out, just need to get a full clean pass together. The MAP Evo seems to be having tranny shifting problems, doesn't seem to want to go into gear, I know I saw it run run an 11.1, maybe some 10s, don't remember with some high trap speeds. The MAP RX7 ran smoothly with a mid or high 8, autos rule. The Probezilla went maybe a low 8? Dave H's Supra has torque convertor problems. Trevor went 11.5 and keeps going faster with each pass. I think I saw SleepyDSM run an 11.4? Jims old 2G Talon was running a lot, he got his fueling problems figured out right after they stopped racing though. Brad went 10.7 @ 139 maybe, His car just goes and is still on those shitty tires. Brads first pass looked almost as bad as he did after drinking all night, but it was still an 11.3. Halon went 11.7 I think. Swifty broke before he even took a pass, I think. Kevin from SLS went at least 11.2, he is on the verge of getting it all working and running a 10. A customer of mine with an all-motor Sentra went 12.0 about 10 times in a row, he was getting very frustrated. Nate(URV8SUX) had a problem with one of his slicks early in the day and popped an inner tube, he went into town and got them remounted and went 10.7 or 10.8 at 140s, hopefully we have a misfire problem fixed and he can beter it tomorrow. Redline with the red 2G with the carbon fiber hood went 11.3, seemed like he was starting to get some good runs in. Some 3/4 chassis probably rotary Starlet thing had one the harryiest passes I have ever seen going all over the track and ran a 9 I think, you wouldn't want to be the other lane next to that thing. One of my customers that we tuned last week went 10.7 in his Civic hatch, another one that we tuned this week went 10.2@145 on his first pass ever in the car. There were a few other Evos there that I don't anything about mostly running in the 12s it seemed. A bunch of Honda, some pretty mean looking ones especially one from out of state, I think most were running in the high 11s/12s. There was a diesel truck running low 11s. The Evo we brought out is having some shifting problems too, probably the clutch, it doesnt want to go into 2nd or 4th smoothly and it creeps on the line, doesn't seem to be disengaging all the way. I think the best pass it made was a 10.7 or 10.8 at 147mph.

Thanks for the detailed update! Reading about all these clutch and tranny problems reminds me why I've never launched the car. I've got enough issues without it. lol.

I can not wait to see what comes out tomorrow, it sounds like a few people had a good day at the track at least. I wonder how Ryan did on the Road course?

Wow, sounds like there's some decently fast cars there. Sucks to hear about so many people having tranny/clutch issues. Hopefully everyone is staying dry tonight!

Yeah, it's called on concrete wall. Only cosmetic damage, spent an hour or so on the course afterwords.

Yep, if MAP does this again next year I'm going to go AWOL if I have to. Last year I had training, this year I'm in Afghanistan and next year=?? Though that will be a long ass drive as I'm trying to get stationed in Maryland

Re: Modern Automotive Performance 2nd Annual Sport Compact Proving Grounds June 26-27

Trevor is rippin it he just ran another 11.5 @125, Bryce is reppin the stock turbo with a 12.2@114mph. Ron@RS ran a 11.05 and got warned, thengave up his slicks to Tuley, who bogged a bit and went on to run a 10.05. I helped Kevin Smigh from Fargo make the tiniest of changes to his 6262 evo8, he went from running 12's to a 10.8@130 then a 10.67.

Spaz is bragging to no end and happy as a clam, running consistent 14.2-14.4. 98gsx is running in the 13's with issues (talonfiero's old car).

Zwifty and I are broke, brandon ran a few runs but I think he just broke something driveline related, spider or something. :(

I think he was the truck with turbo (or wastegate) issues. They couldn't get it to spool up properly.

Was a great weekend!!! Took some jäger shots with jim, shiedes, and trevor last night, then managed to almost get myself arrested due to my drunkass friend trying to wrestle me. My sincere apologies go out to the MAP guys that had to break that up lol. Had a great time guys!!

Had a blast, thanks to MAP for putting on a great event. Best I could get was on Sat. with an 11.33 @ 132 with a 2.09 60' ( very crappy 18" street tires ). Managed break the driveline first qualifying run today though ... actually somehow managed to limp it home though with no power to the front tires... I gotta say, I always thought it would be cool to convert a DSM to RWD, but I never expected it to go like this!

Sorry to hear about that. Hope the damage won't be too expensive to fix. I am always slightly worried about this happending to me. Which area did it happen at?

Great to see everyone. I guess as usual, I fail you all, and don't follow through with a pass or anything. I swear, SOMEDAY my luck is BOUND to change. I've finally narrowed my final goals to a single digit pass/150+ mph traps. Someday, I hope.

Shittier. But I'm not sure if they changed the timing for the elimination or not.

They definitely pop a bit, so they were part of the problem. Now if only some d-bag wandering by the trailer hadn't jacked my new plugs...

^well, when you turn around your negativity, into positive thoughts, and decide to try and try again, I guess it is. Sometimes, you gotta MAKE things happen. We all know my luck in this game isn't great, but i'll be damned if some fucking car will defeat me. I WILL get what I want. Now, or later, it will happen.

Over-steered trough turn 7 and hit the wall (with the left rear tail light) on the outside of 7/8.

As for fixing, well a new chassis only runs $1K or so and might be a decent way to go, since the rest of the car wasn't exactly spectacular in the first place. Or the easier option I'm leaning towards is a hammer, a little bondo an a few new parts. Just need to decide if I want to continue my efforts of making a Grand Touring car a car that turn or not. If I go with a new chassis I won't be gutting it.

Thanks for the kind words guys! We didn't quite reach my goal of tripling the racers / attendance of last year but we were sure close! As with last year we learned a lot of valuable lessons that we can use for the third annual Proving Grounds next year :) We will have a feedback thread up tomorrow, please contribute if you were in attendance!

His though is the same as most probably are. Regardless of parts, those goals are fairly big. Hope you can do it, but I hope they are not short term goals as well.

When you say 7/8, do you mean the clover leaf turn? If so, my brother lost my car there the first time he was ever on the track. Fortunately, he got lucky and spun it out with out really leaving the road.

I have thought about building a car specifically for the track, but haven't had the time to do too much yet.

Keep your head up, buddy. I'm feeling exactly like you with this Chump car stuff, all the bad things just drive me more to perfect what we have and make an even better effort the next time around.

Thanks Matt. Right now, the car I think will just sit. My motivation for even touching it just isn't there. Perhaps someday, 10 years down the road, I'll finally get what I want. Who knows.

Re: Modern Automotive Performance 2nd Annual Sport Compact Proving Grounds June 26-27

We have the slowest evo to date, lol. Just hitting first gear, car rolls forward so the clutch is probably not disengaging. Also, 4th gear has a notch before it goes in. I heard it ran 12.X spinning 1st and second after I left. Haven't touch the pedal adjustment yet so it's still at stock pedal engagement.
