What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
I'm very curious on how this will pan out. Based off Regular (~89 octane pump gas).

Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
I would be happy if it just stayed under $2.50.

Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
2.25

OH MY..I'm no longer gonna read this thread you creeps! lol

Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
lol, I think a bit over $2 is pretty fair. Anyone else remember $.99/gallon gas?
|
Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
I'd love it to be closer to the $2 even mark and I'd be more than happy. I remember putting gas in for 85 cents a gallon when I got my first car. Back then I was still bitching as the Buick was sucking that shit up like a raped V8.

I wanna know who the hell voted for gas to be "fair" at above $2.80 a gallon. They can't be serious!
|
Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
I voted 2.00, but I could really care less about gas prices. I just fill up when it needs it. There is no point in complaining about it all the time because its not going to get any better.

Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
I voted for the $2.50 category. Whoever voted less than .99 cents is just plain being funny. In my 36 years of life, gas really hasn't went up a whole lot. The only thing that pisses me off besides price gouging oil companies, is those people who say that gas is still cheaper than a gallon of milk. ~~ excuse me, but when was the last time you consumed like 10 gallons of milk in a single seating?
|
Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
I'm very comfortable paying in the mid to low $2 range.
|
Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
Realistically compared to other countries we have it damn good. I voted 2.80 and up because maybe it will push people to start conserving gas and looking to other alternatives.
Gas will never go back down, its only up from here as the supply gets more and more limited, not in the sense of overall abundance. But in the sense that we will have to look farther and deeper to get it, which will cost more, therefore pushing up the cost of gas. The milk thing is very true. You dont consume 10 gallons of it at one sitting, but think about it. It the demand for milk was the same as gasoline, it would be 10X or more expensive as it is today, until enough cows are grown to support the demand. Gas is extremely cheap per gallon compared to other inelastic goods. |
Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
^^I agree. We get cheap, subsidised gas. We end up paying more when you add in taxes and other costs. If you look at the cost in other industrialised nations the 'real' cost of gas is more like $4-$5 per gallon.
|
Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
I voted $1.51 - $1.75, but I'm in a cheap mood.
|
Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
Didn't read any of the posts, but realistically a gallon of gas should cost 7 or 8 bucks a gallon. that's what the rest of the world pays.

Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
Yeah, I went to Norway two summers ago. They have more money in general (sale jeans were $100+ US and we had a medium pizza from some semi-famous pizza place that costed like $55 US) but gas was still expensive as hell. Its kind of unfair comparison though, the lowest octane I saw was 93 and that was once. Most of it was between 95-102 or something like that. I think they paid near $9 a gallon at that time.

Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
$1.76 - $2.00 untill I have somthing like Mr. fusion on the laser to feed the Flux capacitor.

Not if i recall correctly, i think they measure octane differently there as well. |
Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
True, the octane ratings for most of the world are different than ours. I think you can subtract 5 or 6 points to get a reasonable comparison.

Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
You can't compare the cost of a U.S. gallon of gas vs. what it goes for in Europe unless you compare every cost that's embedded into that gallon. If all the embedded taxes (state, local, etc) are the same, it's fair but I highly doubt they are. Income taxes between countries would have to be the same also for a fair comparison. Perhaps, they pay less income tax than we do, and their governments get the Uncle Sam money out of their high cost of gas.
|
Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
Most places in Europe pay higher taxes than we do because of retarded shit like govt. healthcare.

Europe uses the RON rating on their gas. I think around $2.50 would be fair. And I have you all beat, I remember $.65/gal gas!

Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
So what was going so right with the world back in 2000ish when gas was $.83?
It's just silly to say that we can't go back to that. |
Re: What do you feel is a realistic, and fair price for a gallon of gasoline?
Global supply & demand. China alone demand is almost 2 fold of what it was. They are building up huge reserves also. Threat to oil supplies with terroism & hurricanes also affects it. Just this morning oil shot up to about $74 again on the tensions with Iran. If we goto war with them(which we probably will), and there is also another severe hurricane like Katrina, you can at least double what you pay for gas now.
