I need a 14b put in as well. Tomorrow though. I think I have someone to do it already though. If not I may have to throw in some money on a 12 pack or something, haha. Joking....

Re: 14b install?

Just pull it off and put a new one one. Keep track of what bolts go where, be careful with the oil/coolant lines when removing and take your time. Buy yourslef a beer when your done and enjoy the work you compelete. It's not hard to do, it's actually really easy. Intake, IC piping, fans (for more room if wanted) and unbolting it from the manifold. The pita is is the bolts don't want to come out or go back in right.

Re: 14b install?

I heard also taking the radiator out helps too. Im just gonna drain all the oil and coolant.

Draining the oil isn't necessary. Just don't strip/break the bolt going to the head.

Re: 14b install?

Well it needs a oil change..lol. So I should also take the manifold out too? Man I'm scared to do that!

I guess maybe a 2g doesn't have the feed from the head... As far as the manifold goes, if there is a stud that goes up on the turbo, you'll probably have to take the manifold off also.

Re: 14b install?

The hardest part i had was taking off the lower far drivers side manifold bolt, that thing was a bitch, i finally got it buy getting a 1/4 inch 14mm and putting the socket on 1st then fandangeling the wrench into the socket hole. This was on a 1g 6 bolt with power steering (p.s. bracket in the way) I'm not putting a bolt back on it.

Re: 14b install?

With a j pipe can I put a 90 degree coupler on it to make it work with a FMIC?

Re: 14b install?

Do you have an install kit? If not you are gonna need the oil feed and return from a 1G. The 2G oil feed will not work with a 14B(I have tried).

98gstaherns 06-14-2006 03:27 PM

Re: 14b install?

Oh yea i got that install kit..Because I'm a pimp like that!
Also I got Turbo manifold bolts, coolant,wd40,pb balster,Oil, Oil filter, turbo..Blah i hope this goes good.

Re: 14b install?

GOD DAMN STUPID O2 senor! blah won't come out! But all and all it is going good. 14b is in just have to try and get the oil lines put on. The one on the filter housing is being a pain too. Hopefully getting the front mount in too. God this car is a mess..

If the new one is stock from the 14b, You should reuse your old o2 housing and just unbolt the housing from the turbo? 4 bolts. Those 02 sensors could be a bitch to get out and are expensive to replace!

yea thats what we did!

Re: 14b install?

Got the old one out and the new one is in! Yet again thanks to yingyang who came out. Nothing seems to be leaking have to take another look today to make sure. But yea got it all. Found a good way to get the old o2 housing bolts out of the t25 was sto drop the car down one it to hold it down and using a metal baseball bat on a bearker bar to get them loose. Also is it safe at about 15psi on stock fuel and IC?

How did it take you two hours to get the old one out?

Yes aslong as you are using a quality premium gas such as BP and your injectors are flowing properly. Wouldn't be a bad idea to dump some Chevron fuel injector cleaner into your tank and to take you IC off and rince it out with some gasoline to get all the oil sludge out (let it air dry before reinstalling it of course).

Were you running into problems? Paul and I had that sucker off in no time. Granted getting it back on and having everything work right has been a little more of a bitch but you know how it goes.

Re: 14b install?

Well we pulled it in like at 10 and rolled it out like maybe 12ish. But we had to let it cool down and do little BS before pulling the old turbo out.
