Possible PINKS Project

I was just throwing out there to see if anyone else thought that it would be a good idea to get a group going here in Minnesota for the PINKS show. Post what you think of the idea and if it is worth it or not for next year.

We would build a car for pinks.

I've been waiting for a nice DSM to be on that show. Love the idea. Do it!

Well should we put up a poll or see what people will contribute to a project.

Re: Possible DSMStyle PINKS Project

I have no desire to have the name of this site anywhere on that show. The only benefit to a shop would be to get a name out there and hope they don't look like most of the other people who "race" on that show.

I've taken the site name out of the thread.

Re: Possible PINKS Project

It would be cool, and i would try to help anyway i could.

But Pinks makes the drivers/team look dumb.
For example, it would be like me racing against say swanny's stealth.

The cars are never evenly matched and someone always gets fucked.

Re: Possible PINKS Project

I agree with Allan. But yes one hell of a nice DSM be nice on there. I was pissed I missed the 240sx vs the Stang yesterday.

Re: Possible PINKS Project

We were looking into this, but in order to be REALLY nice you need to put some money into it... And we aren't about to give several lengths to somebody so they have a better chance to win our faster car lol.

tpunx99GSX 10-16-2006 04:28 PM

Re: Possible PINKS Project

Plus the car would have to last all 5 races.

Gravy 10-16-2006 06:12 PM

Re: Possible PINKS Project

NM that idea then, but it would be nice. There's a guy on another forum that has submited to be on Pinks and is just waiting to hear back on a date if they use him.

YiNYaNg 10-16-2006 06:37 PM

Re: Possible PINKS Project

They need to turn on the clock and do either bracket racing or race head to head and none of that you get blah blah car lengths b.s.

tpunx99GSX 10-16-2006 07:02 PM

Re: Possible PINKS Project

Or else if they would limit it to a single car length that would be ten times better, None of this "I want 15 car lengths because your stickers add 900 hp" bs.

Uhhh they give the cars right back. :D

TCStangs had a thread on this cause Pinks took place @ CFR in IA when some TCStangs members where down there. After the race the cars where retunred to the owners.

hmmm, that makes it that much more appealing lol...

I think the owners had worked out an agreement before hand to be able to buy the losing car back for $1.

THere is a guy from my home town Mantorville MN who was on there with his model t and i think he won. Also there is a thread on tuners were people are donating $20 each and they have over 1000 but last i saw on there it was one already scheduoed for 2007 against an awd del sol

Yeah, I think if you search around different forums you find people talking about similar agreements to get the car back.

Re: Possible PINKS Project

I have thought about this a few times...have a good plan....build a car that runs good on motor(but install active nitrous kit), run the first race or 2 n/a and bargain with the nitrous like u need it when u dont, so there for if the only way they will race is if u dont have nitrous u have a strong ass motor....and if u comes down to the last race give thenm say 2-3 extra lengths plus nitrous, that u havent used yet and u kick there ass cuz u have a whole new car :D id be a great bargainer for that show

Or even run a high low boost switch and run low boost for the 1st couple races

Re: Possible PINKS Project

Yeah, I would do some fudging around un there. Different amounts of nitrous and boost would screw with their minds. I think we should get a little friendly shop to shop competition. DB vs LSE? MAP vs. one o the other. I also agree on turning the clock on.

I always thought the same thing, most of the V8 guys on there probably wouldn't know if you had high boost or low boost setup, and there was a guy who did the nitrous thing, he had an empty bottle hooked up or something to that effect.

yea, that was Full Race who pulled that move. Genius! every car should have a fake bottle to use as a bargaining chip!

Re: Possible PINKS Project

High vs. low boost, nitrous vs no nitrous, meth vs no meth...there are plenty of things you can do to make sure you do not run out of bargaining chips.
My personal favorite would be messing around with slicks as well on an awd ;). If you get them SWEEET, if not, use drag radials ;).

Shane@DBPerformance 10-17-2006 02:59 PM

Re: Possible PINKS Project

Somebody here at the shop was talking about using a nitrous setup as a fake bargaining chip. Just install a purge setup and maybe later agree to remove the nitrous system.

That's what Full Race did on their pink civic hatch when they were on pinks.

Re: Possible PINKS Project

a guy on the dsmlink forum was on it with a 95 style mustang and lost bad to a older one. There was a girl driving the 95 mustang and their team did a crappy job on bargaining. They lost races and still wouldn't get any extra room or anything.

Are you sure they'll give it back if you lose?

YiNYaNg 10-17-2006 07:11 PM

Re: Possible PINKS Project

I'd be willing to let a shop use my car to be used on that show if I get it back after the show and get to keep the mods too.

2 red 2gb gsx go head to head. That sounds good.

hey DSM shops you guys want to do it?

95tsi 10-17-2006 08:40 PM

Re: Possible PINKS Project

Just make sure you conceal every mod on the car. Build a cage for the car and instead of using a nitrous bottle, use the inside of the cage. Use a high/low boost and wire it into your rear wiper switch. Just small things that others wont pick up on. Thats what I would do....

Re: Possible PINKS Project

Giving the car back is determined by the two people who are going to race, negotiating that before hand. On another forum I check out, one of the high rollers didn't give the car back, he kept it and beat the hell out of it. Kinda an ass, but he said, if you aren't willing to lose your car, what are you doing going on "Pinks".

BTW, I'm sure I have some parts I could donate if a MN DSM crew decided to build a budget car for this. They match you up with others who claim similar hp #'s(and I think build cost/or approx. value?).

I say we build my car for pinks, and put it against Nash's evo once it's done.... what do you think andy?
