Possibly getting out of dsms.

Due to recent events. I may be getting out of dsms altogether. I may need something with a little more back seat space and requires less money to run.
:(

Yeah, that is what I thought too! Gratz Tom. I would say Evo also, or an older WRX if you don't mod it much.

Old WRX's are gay, the new ones mod well and put down good numbers.

I think you should get a PT cruiser.

Congrats on the little one. With big responsibility comes big reward.

I was just gonna ask if this was another hoax, and if his kid was gonna be named lance...

Doubtful, but Brian Earl Ferlaak does have a certain ring to it.

Have you looked at our back seats?! they are practically designed for kids. They make good child seats. I wouldn't worry about selling the thing until the kids start hitting their heads on the glass hatch.

Re: Possibly getting out of dsms.

Find a nice clean stock or mildly modded evo and rock it out! Mine has been SUPER reliable, and while it does not make 450whp, it makes 300+whp, handles awesome, stops on a dime, and makes me smile every damn day.

The best part? Kids fit well in the back!

Not mine, but my bro's godson came with to DB once:

Re: Possibly getting out of dsms.

Yes this is actually a kid.
Thanks for the words guys i really appreciate it.
The reason why im getting out of the eclipse is because a) it ties up too much of my money. b) Getting the child in and out is kinda hard, ive done it before and would rather not do it on a daily basis. and c) The car breaks too damn much, i dont wanna be bringing my girl to the hospital and have the car crankwalk.

I like the old WRX's. I think they are still my favorite body style. That'd be a nice little DD.

Re: Possibly getting out of dsms.

Honestly, just get out of cars.

How is the relationship between you and her? I'll can tell you first hand anything the coarts see as hobby, or extra they'll say if you can spend it on that then you can spend it on your kid. Jenny tried that shit with me, and they checked everything, I had to put together a list of Bills going 6 months back to prove I didn't have any extra money that could go to her. They asked for bank statements, house payments, car insurance, etc. Anything above and beyond can go to her for child support (and yes they said cable and internet were not necessary...bastards! don't know what I'd do with out internet)

But on the possitive note congrats man. Wish you the best of luck, and all I can say is just be there for her, she's going to have a ton of emotions going on that we couldn't never understand, and support not matter what the decision is, is key to keeping the relationship going in a positive manner. (kind of funny actually been talking about this with 3 different women about this since moving down here)

Spring for an older awd Legacy GT or an Impreza 2.5 RS.

Congrats on the news. I'm hoping that doesn't happen to me for about 8 more years.

Come On!!! having the car crankwalk while taking your girl to the hospital would be the greatest DSM story ever!!!

But yeah, old WRX would be on the list. I love the way they look. I think you can find a 2.5RS for a good price. They are more reliable then a DSM...
I think...
however when I talked to the people that modify them, I am amazed at the amount of money they spend on performance parts and AWD trans still break when engine is modified.

Me and my girlfriend are great. We have been dating for over a year, we havent had a fight yet. I was planning on popping the question before all of this in february.
Its great how supportive my family and friends have been. im truely blessed in that respect. This will be my families 11th child. lol

Re: Possibly getting out of dsms.

Congrats man. It sucks to see a DSM go particularly since it seems like you've just rounded out your setup, but its good to see that you've got your priorities right. I like the old bug eye WRX's as well, but watch that 2nd gear... my buddy with a fairly modded one has been through two trannies in the past couple years. I would blame it on the fact that he beats on it a lot though, if you just DD it I think you should be fine.

Re: Possibly getting out of dsms.

just get a new four door civic, if you can. probably pretty good on fuel, looks good, four doors, saves gas.

Did you want a baby?

I wasnt opposed to a baby. I would have rather waited a year or two. but hey life throws these things at you for a reason.

Re: Possibly getting out of dsms.

I am with Brian and say I would NOT have a modible car as a daily driver.
Family comes over fun and if you need it to get to and from work to feed more than yourself, or take kids to doctors appointments, school, wife/girlfriend to the hospital, buy something reliable.

Maybe I am just getting old....

Either way Congrats Tom!

Kracka 11-28-2007 08:50 AM

Re: Possibly getting out of dsms.

I don't see anything wrong with buying/owning something modable, just keep it reasonable and make sure the car stays reliable and never let it go down for more than a few hours at a time to install a part or two. Plus, I'm sure your girlfriend has a car too.

A//// Guy 11-28-2007 09:26 AM

Re: Possibly getting out of dsms.

Well congrats dude. I hope everything goes smoothly, and the dsm bug goes away once you get something else. I know mine did once I got something nicer. Having a moddable DD is fine, as long as you keep it reasonable. Some cars are more difficult than others.. ones with turbos especially. :P

Re: Possibly getting out of dsms.

If you get something you can build you will find yourself in the same situation but it will take a little longer to become unreliable. Knowing you, you will want to some way or another make it fast. I don't understand why you would want an evo or wrx and take on payments? I can understand wanting a new car I guess but not something that costs that much.

PS: Can I have some of your left over parts? j/k well not really

tpunx99GSX 11-28-2007 01:22 PM

Re: Possibly getting out of dsms.

a) Mitsubishi 10 year 100,000 mi warranty.
b) Having a baby is a life changing event. so therefore i will keep it pretty much stock. It will never get as modded as my current dsm. Just need something with a little more spunk then a buick.
c) Sure i will be taking on payments but ill be saving in downtime and gas, and parts breaking.
d) I will not be taking a major loan. it will be something small like $5,000.

Re: Possibly getting out of dsms.

I bought my 01 Galant from Steve on here for a damn good price. It's been very reliable. A nice cheap DD, something to consider maybe.
