The shop is moving!
Alright, everything is in place to move to the new shop in Ham Lake, about 5 miles off 35W. Things have been pretty stagnant with the business the last 18 months, but that is going to change. I had simply outgrown my shop and it wasn't very functional. In the new shop I will have about 1500 sqft at my disposal for the business, instead of 400! 1000 sqft will be just the metal working shop. I will be needing some cars to prototype exhausts and FMIC kits on starting late Jan, so if you need something done I will cut you a great deal if I use the car for prototyping. I will then make up jigs off the car to make future kits from. It will take a couple of extra days to do, but you will save hundreds.
I do have space in the shop right now before the move, but I won't be able to take anything in from Dec 23rd to Jan 15th. Labor rates are still only $40/hr or $50/hr for fabricating. I'll get some pics up of the new shop once everything gets settled in. |
Re: The shop is moving!
uouo I need a FMIC.
|
Re: The shop is moving!
If anyone wants to be a prototype, put your name, year of car, and if you want FMIC kit or exhaust kit and put a reply in this thread. The exhaust will be a 3" SS turbo back including tubular O2 housing and V-band clamp. The FMIC kit will be 2.5" SS for now, with a 3" version coming later. I will finally have room to store jig's, so this is going to be worth while. Doing them all custom was a waste of time.

Re: The shop is moving!
I would be willing to be a prototype donor. Would I be suppling the core? Is it short route with a rear facing end tanks?

Re: The shop is moving!
I will supply the core, but it will be short route piping. Whoever is first on this list will be the first one called, if you don't want to do it, I will go to the next one. I will likely be using 2 different cores, a cheap one (2.5") and a Garrett core with custom end tanks (3").

I dont have money right now but I would be interested in a prototype FMIC.
Mike Blageo 1998 Eclipse Spyder GSX But I have a magnus and a NA Throttle body, and also have an oil cooler that might get in the way so maybe it wouldnt be good for a prototype. |

Thanks guys, I'll let you know when the time gets closer. |
Re: The shop is moving!
When are you looking to do this, i understand you have a lot of other things going on and what not, but i guess i would like a clue.
|
Re: The shop is moving!
I will be starting to prototype late Jan, early Feb. I will be doing several different models, so things will be pretty flexible.
|
Re: The shop is moving!
Cool, well i hope that i can help.

Re: The shop is moving!
Sorry Jakey, things are stressful trying to get the last minute stuff done on the house, and all isn't going as planned. I didn't intend for things with the shop to go the way they did. The shop was just too damn small to be functional, that is why I haven't done as much with it lately. Once I got the TIG, MIG, 50 ton hydraulic press, general tools, etc, there wasn't any damn space left to do anything. The new shop is way bigger, attached to the house and has in floor heating. Life is going to be good! I won't take money for a product unless it is ready to ship out, so there are never any worries in the future.

If you need help moving, gimme a ring.

Re: The shop is moving!
Any interest in making a custom slip-on for my bike? I could provide the mufflers, I just need someone to make something from the flanges where the stock cans bolt on, up to where I want the cans.
|
Re: The shop is moving!
We went through this already, just buy a real bike exhaust. Those engines are so tweaked that you will likely lose hp if you try to do it yourself. Find a used system if you don't have the cash or just get a slip on if you want the noise.
|
Re: The shop is moving!
I'm not talking about a full system anymore. Just something to replace the stock cans. I want something high mount, and thought maybe you could do something for me.
|
Re: The shop is moving!
Ok, I might be able to. When are you looking to do it?

Probably when the snow melts enough so I can get it out of storage.

Sounds good.

Re: The shop is moving!
That could be very doable. I am not real crazy about that design, but it is a good starting point. Hopefully I have the rest of the cement floor poured in the shop by the end of the month.
|
Re: The shop is moving!
Hey Jet, would you have any way of getting a non-running car up to your place to make the exhaust?
|
Re: The shop is moving!
I have a car trailer and truck. The shop isn't done yet though, so I won't be able to do anything for a while.
|
Re: The shop is moving!
The new shop floor is being poured on Monday! The fun part will be moving the TIG, press and compressor down to the shop.
|
Re: The shop is moving!
I don't need the exhaust anymore, but one of those strut tower bars would be pretty sweet :)
|
Re: The shop is moving!
The shop floor is in! Next I need to get tile board on the walls over the concrete forms (that is why the walls look so dirty).

Re: The shop is moving!
Those walls remind me of some basement from a horror flick where people get tortured and killed. Haha
|
Re: The shop is moving!
Looks good. A few good coats of paint will take care of most of that; how the fuck did it get so dirt though? Looks there was a demo durby going on down there.
Hey Jet, how long until you outgrow this shop? I say 6 months....ha ha. |
Re: The shop is moving!
Those aren't walls like you normally think of, they are the outside of the cement forms. The walls are poured concrete, not block. The stuff is like styrofoam and they get dirty while the walls are being poured. The guy that had the house earlier also grew weed in that room :D
I plan on building an accessory building in the next year or 2 also. That one will have high enough ceilings for a lift or 2. I am limited to 720 sqft on that one. |
Re: The shop is moving!
looks good did you continue the heated floors under the new part also
|
Re: The shop is moving!
Yes, the heated floors were already done, they just didn't pour the slab for some reason. I need to rip down those cheesy shelves and get the wall board up, then it is time to start moving stuff in. It is bigger than what the pic's look like too. It is 36'x28' (980 sqft).
|
Re: The shop is moving!
nice. he wanted the dirt floor with the warm water running throught it so he could grow his weed with out to much extra heaters probley
|
Re: The shop is moving!
Looks good man! Can't wait until the house is done and we can play poker in the secret weed cave!
|
Re: The shop is moving!
Looks good ICF walls with heated floors should be nice and energy efficent. What kind of insulation doese it have in the ceiling?
|
Re: The shop is moving!
I would like to see this place too, looks sweet.
Also someone i was talking to earlier brought up the idea of a heater that burned old oil, then i thought what about a heated floor that burns old oil. |
