FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

1 Attachment(s)
After a long night of tuning we got it to:

812whp and 591ft/lbs

Boost: 43 psi
Fuel: E98
Automatic Transmission
Bias Ply Tires

It has a lot more in it, we simply ran out of time. I'm thinking we can do 900whp on the turbo, but its looking like we will need to juice it into the quadruple digits ;)

Big thanks to Jordan @ Consummate Tuning for staying late and helping out with the tune!

Pretty awesome.. It doesn't take much to get an FD to be quick.. that thing is gonna be crazy. Congrats

Wow, nice!

That is sick, i hope you realize that is an easy single second car.

Most guys run mid 10s with 400whp in a FD.

Wow. Why didnt you do those pulls when me and nate were at your shop yesterday?! ;)

Awesome power. That mazda is going to move out.

Awesome boys! When does it go to the track!?!?! Should go fast!!!

Re: FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

We still have a lot of work to do before this thing sees the track. The Mazda rear end would likely explode immediately and to be honest I just wouldn't feel very safe without a roll cage ;)

We also have to send the convertor out to raise the stall as well as wire the headlights and tail lights so we can do some street testing ;)

Congrats on getting it running good and making some crazy power. Did you figure out what the problem was with the AEM shutting off? How high are you guys reving it?

We sent it out to AEM and they didn't find anything wrong on their test car so they updated the firmware and sent it back. During that time our USB to Serial adapter took a crap so we're thinking that might have been the issue as the AEM would only freeze when the laptop was connected.

We were revving it to just over 8k last night, but we might need a little more to ensure it falls back into the power band. Check out the HP vs RPM graph below:

Now you can update your sig. :)

Yeah finally lol, thanks for coming out to take a look at it and start the tuning process!

Re: FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

That is like 650 DD power, just crazy :)

You need to video tape a few pulls once she is completely tuned.

Nice numbers! Especially through an auto. I wonder why it nosedives so hard at 7300 rpm though? I can't think of any bottlenecks from looking at the setup unless your cams aren't keeping up. I'm guessing there's a lot more in it.

Re: FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

Could definitely be tune related as we just scratched the surface, or perhaps an upgrade to 288's is in order ;)

Re: FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

Better make sure you don't have a strap break / melt on you going 160 mph on the dyno lol!

v8klla 05-22-2008 06:39 PM

Re: FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

Haha it was strapped pretty well ;)

Shane@DBPerformance 05-22-2008 06:46 PM

Re: FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

Yea, might need some big cams. The stroker motor cars often don't make the best power in high RPM. My peak HP was around 6500RPMs. With a quicker spooling turbo, you end up with a wide flatish powerband sometimes with the stroker cars and your usual cams.

Kracka 05-22-2008 06:48 PM

Re: FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

If you're running BC cams thats probably your issue ;) Check out the AMS cam test and you'll see what I mean.

Shane@DBPerformance 05-22-2008 06:48 PM

Re: FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

It's an auto too, so it's hard to compare powerbands.

Ah but those are Evo cams aren't they? The BC DSM cams are an exact replica of the Crower grinds to the best of my knowledge...

Ahh yes. Do their DSM ones make power?

Re: FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

I would look elsewhere besides Crower for cams. FP sounds like the e-ticket right now. I haven't heard much about their cams for the strokers above the FP3x though.

Very nice guys. So when are we going to see the updated numbers after your further tuning and cam swap or whatever you are planning on changing? Glad to see that the issue you were having was worked out.

From what I remember, unless the vehicle dynamics changed with the firmware update, aka an ignition sync change...the ve of the engine tanks at higher rpm.

Cams my friends, the cams!

:)

Yeah a cam change is definitely in order!

That is badass. Sounds just wicked.

What are you going to do for a rear end?

v8klla 05-23-2008 01:17 PM

Re: FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

Ford 9" already in the works ;)

AwdGSX13 05-23-2008 02:45 PM

Re: FDSM Dyno Results...Finally lol

Well at least you'll know you will never have to go with a different rear end after that! 9" will be able to hold plenty of power in that beast!
