Well, I finally made the plunge and proposed to Cassie. She even said yes! We are getting married Oct 18th. We are just having a small wedding, probably at our house. We are still hammering out the details.

We had planned to do a bigger wedding, but the Fridley house still has not sold, so we don't have the cash for it right now. We'll get a huge tax break if we get married this year too :D

Congrats! I hope your engagement goes better than mine. She changed a TON. It took me a while but I finally got rid of her a couple of months ago. Hard to break up with someone after you have been together for 4-5 yrs and are engaged.

We had planned on doing just a small wedding, but now we are trying to make a bigger reception/dance afterwards. If that happens, I will be letting a bunch of you know so you can come celebrate!

I actually did leave the country for a bit! I am back from Montreal though. My fiance gets a load of tax deductions and they more than cover her salary. When we are married we will file jointly so the extra deductions will come off my part of the tax bill! I think we found a place for the reception today. Cheap booze too!! :D

That sounds like it will work (tax side). I was sceptical when you first brought it up as a tax break is not always the case. I know of a couple who got divorced as it would be cheaper for tax purposes ("marriage tax"). It is something that people will tell you ("you will get a tax break by getting married") but is not always true. My ex-fiance's parents tried using that on me but I knew enough to tell them that it is not the case.

Just don't let her get carried away! Small add ons can lead to an expensive wedding. I would make a budget first if you haven't already.

Actually she wants me to find her a 2g GST spyder sometime! Thanks again everyone! Planning weddings really suck though!! Parents want one thing, we want another, grrrr. I am glad we don't have a lot of time to plan it, it will be over quicker. :D
