Re: New guy!

so one of my motors supposedly has bent valves but when i opened the valve cover one of the rocker arms? was just laying there disconnected so could that cause the effects of a bent valve?http://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...5/DSC_0109.jpghttp://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...5/DSC_0110.jpghttp://i683.photobucket.com/albums/v...5/DSC_0108.jpg

blackrosenova400 07-27-2009 01:42 AM

Re: New guy!

It could be bent, if its bent and the spring isnt allowed to close the valve all the way, the rocker could fall right out like you see there.

john 07-27-2009 01:50 AM

Re: New guy!

Welcome. You get a deal on that car? I would bring it to a shop to get checked over. I wouldn't want to throw a head on to find out that the valves are smashed.

BTW, nice tight jeans and sexy shoes ;)

Re: New guy!

I had a head with bent valves, knocked three of my rockers off. Def a strong possibility that there's a bent valve. Welcome to the site btw.

Powers 07-27-2009 02:46 AM

Re: New guy!

ok so i got a donor 7 bolt motor with good valves and pistons and everything but a busted exhaust manifold could i swap the vavles so make one good motor?

Powers 07-27-2009 02:47 AM

Re: New guy!

oh and i picked the shell and 2 motors up for 700 bucks so not horrible it just needs some tlc lol and money and oh the tight jeans and shoes are actually my friend who helped me get the motor lol we call him poser lol

Re: New guy!

I wouldn't mess with a 7 bolt. Get a 6 bolt bottom end with a 2g 7 bolt top end on it and drive.

Welcome to the site btw!

Powers 07-28-2009 04:16 PM

Re: New guy!

well i pulled the head off the 6 bolt and found out all the exhaust valves are shot and that the piston made contact with the head :(

twack 07-28-2009 06:35 PM

Re: New guy!

for $700 your still doing awesome. hows the other head

Powers 07-29-2009 01:31 AM

Re: New guy!

The 7 bolt head seems to be good but it needs to be polished

looking good! kinda looks like my build :)

Powers 08-11-2009 01:54 AM

Re: New guy!

so i was feeling ambitious tonight and i pulled the 7 bolt motor apart because a source informed me that the 7 bolt was in the car at one point and that it had a knock and i pulled the entire motor apart so it is just the block right now. it had a spun bearing and a piston scraped one of the walls and the crank needs to be grounded so i think im just gonna get the block bored and put new con rods and pistons in

Re: New guy!

what do u all need for the 6 bolt bottum end with a 2g head?

Powers 08-29-2009 09:50 AM

Re: New guy!

Well the 6 bolt bottom end the crankshaft bracket broke and the heads got bent valves and needs new pistons so basically a full rebuild give it to you cheap if u want it

96GST16g 08-29-2009 03:42 PM

Re: New guy!

i mean to bolt the 2g head on the 6 bolt block and run in in a 2g

Powers 08-29-2009 04:09 PM

Re: New guy!

Oh ha I have no idea the 6 bolt needs a crap ton of work

tehehodi 08-29-2009 04:11 PM

Re: New guy!

i think you have to machine the head to bore out the stud holes bigger because the 6 bolt studs have a bigger circumference or something like that.

twack 08-29-2009 04:40 PM

Re: New guy!

yup you got to enlarge the holes. and port the head to match the manifolds

If you use the 2g manifolds with the 2g head you should only have to open up the head stud holes due to the 6 bolt having thicker head studs.

However, if you use the 1g intake manifold with the 2g head you'd be only hurting yourself unless you get it ported.
