Re: 91 Galant VR4
awesomeness!! |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
What are your plans for it? I stumbled across your part out thread of this car when searching one time... Are you going for big power again?
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
I have most of the parts I sold off the car back. I think the GT4202 and 8 160lb/hr injectors are a little insight into the plans.

Re: 91 Galant VR4
Awesome! I'm glad to see you're gonna continue this project!
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Better get it back together soon. Fast Mark could use another loss in his new 95 cobra.
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Ahh it sleeps at home, congrats!
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
way to go it is going back together
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Sawheat!
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
GT4202, so 10s on pump. But we all know it will never see 92, so what is the plan big man?
Congrats, excited to see what becomes of this. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
No you can't have the BOV or the wastegate back, I'm using them! ;)
I'm excited to see what becomes of your galant. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
As of now I am thinking E-85 and less then 30psi. I am going threw the head right now, and making the exhaust and intake manifold for it. Then I am going to get it on the engine dyno at work to sort out any issues while I figure out the tranny and clutch situation.

I did get a little work done to the race SMIM this weekend. http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...cture_0921.jpg This is the short block waiting for the head. ~John |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Looking good!
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
The port job on the head was touched up, the valves are ground, and the valve job should be done in the next couple of days. Then shim the springs a little tighter, 1 exhaust rocker came off and almost put a hole in the head. Then deck it and bolt it back down. I will be working on the exhaust manifold Tuesday tonight.

Re: 91 Galant VR4
I have an auto, and am thinking about it a lot. The AEM should be able to control it.

Re: 91 Galant VR4
I'm glad to see a big project in the works. Good luck, can't wait to see a beast.

Worst case scenerio is we build a ecm to control the transmission based on a signal from the AEM (or a paddle shifter setup). Do ett...shifting is lame when all you are trying to do is keep it straight. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
awesome. For some reason I just love the sound of fast auto DSM/GVR4! great work man!
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
I think the AEM has 2 out puts for tranny control, either on/off so you get the 4 options that the tranny needs to run. I did get a little done on the exhaust manifold.
http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...icture_093.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...icture_095.jpg This is using the same fixture as before, but a little different runner lay out. ~John |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Madness. Can't wait to see it finished.
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
very nice.

Re: 91 Galant VR4

http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...icture_097.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...icture_098.jpg http://www.mitsustyle.com/photopost/...icture_103.jpg Now I just need a waste gate and mount it to the manifold, a little final fit and finish, then finish weld. The runners are equal length for the #'s 1/4 and #'s 2/3 and will be divided all the way up to the waste gate valve seat. The turbo should be in the same spot as before, now I will just need to fab up the sheet metal end tank for the water to air and make a new down pipe. ~John |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
thats crazy! it looks really good. I wish I could fab stuff like that
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
lookin good man built not bought, saves money lol and its done the way you want it too.
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Nice job man. Makes me wish I could do that too.
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Thanks, I will have the intake manifold done tomorrow night, then off to the flow bench to make sure it does what its supposed to.
~John |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Good, hopefully that configuration will bring the spool down a bit. Still plan on spinning this one to 9500?
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
The return of the White Nissan! :D
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
looking good. It looks like the v2 will bolt on a lot easyer
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Looking good! I edited your last post, just wrap your image links in img tags and they'll just show up, no clicking required :)
Glad this beast is finally getting some attention. For those that don't know, this car made 600+whp at a dyno day a few years back: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rl9glSjfd50&hd=1 If you go manual, what clutch will you go with? Seemed that was an issue last time. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Super impressed with your fabrication work sir! PM sent, think I found out who I want to make my exhaust manifold for my sled. :D
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
9500-10,000 rpm, I think with the head porting re-work and more shims under the springs the power should hold a little better then before. I knew the clutch would be an issue from day 1, if I go MT I will be doing a twin disk.
http://www.jackstransmissions.com/pr...dbc8ebbf471212 or http://www.maperformance.com/map-6-b...sc-clutch.html As for spool up, between the clutch, leaky bov, and at some point I lost a exhaust rocker and bent the crap out of that valve, it should be a lot better. I also might have to upgrade to a ball bearing version of the GT4202, the standard bearing version will not last forever at high boost. And thanks for looking. ~John |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
When do you plan on having this thing done?
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Spring/summer of 2010, I hope.
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Nice I'll be back around then. Hopefully it's making some sick power
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
i will probably be selling my shift box soon if your looking for auto tranny control or going with a paddle setup
|
Re: 91 Galant VR4
AEM > Shift box... :p
Looking good John! Glad to see you have the car and big plans again. |
Re: 91 Galant VR4
Thanks. It turns out we need a pilot that is small enough to fit into the valve guide to do the valve job. Also I need to make an adapter plate to bolt my engine onto the engine dyno. The rear crash bar was removed, and the AEM/MSD mount was redone for a little less shin jabbing for the co-pilot.
