My new boosted DD

well seeing how GM had 0% APR on new 2009 cars and trucks. I have always wanted a duramax so I went and got a newone and well the payments actually ended up being like 40 bucks more a month then getting a loan on a 20,000 dollar truck. But anyway I got a brand new 2009 black crew cab 2500HD chevy lmm duramax. Its got the tow package/camper package, so it has trailer brakes in it from the factory with the nice towing mirrors, cloth interior, with the bench seat, 17inch rims with 265s instead of 245s, and well I LOVE the truck!!! I will try and get somemore pics up of the truck soon.

Nice Truck!

If you need a programmer or a power puck let me know, my brother gets pretty good discounts at his work (cost) and could probably cut you a good deal. It not only would add power obviously but more than likely get you a significant mileage gain as well.

I would love to get a programmer, and an exhaust cause well its just to damn quite. But then if I put a programmer on it with an exhaust I will void my warrenty I think. Im really not sure. Gotta do somemore reading up on it. Thanks for the offer though.

And thanks everyone else for the complements!

Re: My new boosted DD

Neither will void the warrenty. Henry's dad has a programmer on his and it doesn't void it and diesels don't use cats (I think) so you wouldnt be messing with an emissions device.

t-revzr 12-03-2009 10:10 PM

Re: My new boosted DD

You can get the programmer called the duramizer and I know for sure that does not void your warranty! Basically its just on a dial and you turn it up when you want more power.

goodhart 12-04-2009 12:32 AM

Re: My new boosted DD

Programmer won't void your warranty as long as you turn it back to stock settings before you take it in. My Dad's 03 Ram completely stock with a programmer runs 15 flat in the 1/4 on extreme with the predator.

But he also got it from the dealership too didnt he?(the programmer) and yes there is a cat in it, well technecally a doc(diesel oxygen catalyst), and DPF which is a diesel particulate filter. They really stepped up the emmission shit with diesels in 09.

Re: My new boosted DD

Programmers WILL voil your warranty because the new ECU takes count how many times the ECU has been accessed and a programmer will change this number. I would of gone with a gas truck and a supercharger over the diesel but it is a nice looking ride. Also the new diesels are terrible for emissions and alot of power can be had if that stuff if removed.

Re: My new boosted DD

With a programmer it will incase your mileage for sure. And the new trucks are built better then the old ones. We have a 08 durmax at my work. it does some good shitys

Hey whoever said get gas and supercharger it has never pulled a fcking trailer. A gas engine don't pull shit when you really need it like out west

This I have also heard and really it really pisses me off. Cause I would love to have a nice sounding exhaust on it with a edge programmer to get better fuel milage. So I gotta talk to some of the dirtymax vendors and see if I can get around it some how.

Dope truck bro! If this is gonna be a work truck you might have wanted to get leather, easier for a person and or crew to hop in an out and not ruin the seats when they are full of dirt and shit.

Only if the mechanic looking at it gives enough of a shit to even look for that, it's not like it's coming out of their pocket...

Nice looking truck. Diesels are the way to go for any kind of pulling.

Umm actually I have pulled a trailer many times and it pulled very very well with no issues.

Boosted Diesel 3/4 ton > Boosted Gas 1/2 ton, especially for towing.

Re: My new boosted DD

I haven't read the whole thread but I saw someone suggesting getting a programmer, the Superchip ones and some others will not void your warranty; and they do have significant power gains and some mileage.

The only problem is it could cause you some trouble long term, I have a new buddies with programers, propane injection, ect on their diesels. They have had numerous head gasket issues, tranny issues ect. It might just be a fluke but I would look into it, my buddy just had a headgasket done on a 2007 Ford Turbo Diesel and it was a $4500 bill because they basically had to removed the motor to do it.

Nice truck though, shit I bet it has plenty of power as it is, just get a coffee can muffler and be done with it. :)

Really???? My 04 3500 dually can pull a 44 foot camper trailer fairly easily. Just set cruise at 80 and relax. Mine is a 8.1 V8 and takes regular gas. Thing will pull anything. I doubt the 6.6 liter diesel version will pull any better.

93gtpeater 12-06-2009 03:50 AM

Re: My new boosted DD

I know the 8.1 chevy can pull alot. I have pulled with one before. But it was a two sled trailer. I have pulled with a 6.0 chevy. It had problems pulling a empty horse trailer. Oh and when we went to michigan we pulled a enclosed snowmobile trailer with the 8.1. Only problem on long trips we had to fill up a lot sooner then the diesels.

slowbubblecar 12-06-2009 10:36 AM

Re: My new boosted DD

Mine has a box in box in back with a bigger gas tank as well. It can go about 800 miles if both tanks are filled. I will probably take it off though as it is just a work truck for me and I don't have any plans on driving it regularly.

My buddy has a 6.0 gmc with a 6 inch lift and 22's thats supercharged. That thing will pull anything like nothing was behind it! The truck also runs low 14's in the 1/4 mile. The truck pulls his full enclosed race car trailer with the car, tools, etc with out any problems!

I have a feeling that they would so they could get out of any warrenty work to save some money seeing how GM doesnt have any. haha

I had a 6.0 supercharged with almost 500hp and over 500 tq. that thing went high 13's and pulled a full steel car trailer with cars on it with no problem and never went out of overdrive. I would say don't say a supercharged gas is less then a diesel unless you have driven one with a load on it.

Love the new truck and keep us posted on the mods you do to it!

Ok but still a supercharged gas vs diesel. Diesel will take the win. Better gas mileage towing and not towing. Oh isn't diesel fuel cheaper too?

95talonracer 12-06-2009 09:46 PM

Re: My new boosted DD

I raced a brand new fully modded duramax without the restricted exhaust, and fully tuned with EFILive and beat him. It takes alot to get a diesel into the high 13's.

93gtpeater 12-06-2009 09:52 PM

Re: My new boosted DD

I wasn't talking about racing. I was talking about pulling shit. And its not that hard to get a diesel in the 13's

Diesel fuel is actually more expensive right now.....

Re: My new boosted DD

I don't see how a truck running 13's makes it "better." Trucks are made to haul or pull, I never got the whole having a fast truck deal. Duramax diesels are bomb, Allison trannys do work, and I dig the black gm trucks, so nice ride.

2zzgtte 12-07-2009 10:21 AM

Re: My new boosted DD

I think a Supercharged gas would be much funner then a big diesel... Diesel may be better for towing, but what percentage of the time are you towing things considering it is you DD now?... Id like to supercharge a Toyota Tundra! Woo Woo!!
