Evo- no more?
Quote:
http://www.autocar.co.uk/blogs/autoc...s-no-more.aspx Well, I guess that makes my next car choice a little easier. Sad day if this is true though :( |
Re: Evo- no more?
I call BS.
|
Re: Evo- no more?
Wow I really didn't expect them to cut the evo out of their line up. Why ditch the evo if he himself said that there is still demand for it?
|
Re: Evo- no more?
I kinda had a feeling lately that they might do this. It makes sense from a business standpoint, focusing on more fuel efficient technologies. Thats the next wave that needs to be become reality.
Sucks for enthusiasts though! |
Re: Evo- no more?
Only time will tell, but if it happens that will blow and it will be time to start collecting evos.
Those clean 0 mile evos that dealer had will be worth a ton. |
Re: Evo- no more?
EVO has gone the way of the DSM
|
Re: Evo- no more?
Thats a mega bummer :(
|
Re: Evo- no more?
crappy. if there is still demand in them maybe they should just make limited productions of the next gen evo's like the gvr4's.
|
Re: Evo- no more?
I read that this morning, pretty interesting. Just as I was speccing out new STi Limiteds last night (might buy one and sell my evo). Not sure if this is a sign to keep it or sell ;)
|
Re: Evo- no more?
That sure would suck :( Sounds like the route Toyota went in the late 90's...no enthusiast cars. Toyota looks to slowly be coming around with the Lexus ISF and now the FT-86. I really hope Mitsubishi doesn't do this though, that would leave Subaru to dominate the turbo/AWD enthusiast market.
|
Re: Evo- no more?
Don't be silly Mitsubitchy.
|
Re: Evo- no more?
If anything they will realize the error of their ways like Chevy did with the Camaro
|
Re: Evo- no more?
That will suck if it's true. The AWD market will be a bit boring, unless someone else steps up. Subaru's production cars haven't been on the cutting edge of anything for over 10 years. I guess there is the GTR, but it's out of the price range of most people. Maybe Honda will come out something. :)

Re: Evo- no more?
AWD Turbo 2.4 liter RSX type X
|
Re: Evo- no more?
Mitsubishi really needs to stop doing this to us. Get a great product and either fuck it up or just eliminate it.

Re: Evo- no more?
they should release an Evo E (for electric) and use the concept they originally had for the Evo X. Gas powering the front wheels, electric powering the rears.
|
Re: Evo- no more?
I just don't see why they can't push it as a hybrid. Both Porsche and Ferrari have announced hybrid gas-electric cars, I don't see why Mitsubishi can't take the Evo in that direction.
It seems to me like this is just another cop-out response, as per usual. |

Re: Evo- no more?
Considering people are still driving around 20+ year old DSM's I don't think 'Style will be going anywhere for a while :) That gives us until at least 2031 for the X's :D

Re: Evo- no more?
Maybe they will start selling the 4B11T to the Koreans if Mitsu doesn't have anything to put it in. I'd imagine that they spent a lot developing the motor and they couldn't possibly have gotten their money out of it yet.
I've spent most of the day reading up on the Elise/Exige. I need to get me a ride in one of those this Summer. |
Re: Evo- no more?
Cars I'll consider instead when it comes time to replace the X:
GT-R 135i STI |

My list would be: IS-F CTS-V Charger/300C SRT8 |
Re: Evo- no more?
yeah this is a bummer! Hopefully they will have somthing come out, but if not... my list would consist of ...
GT-R (if prices on used come down) STI (if they change the styling to something I like) Elise/Exige maybe: ISF CTS-V Something Audi (RS3 if it comes here) Mini Countryman (the WRC edition they are going to make) |

Re: Evo- no more?
Elise/Exige here.

Re: Evo- no more?
I've already decided on an elise, for my next car. Just fucking sexy. Some obnoxious color like orange or yellow

Re: Evo- no more?
This looks like 1975 all over again when everybody jumped on the shitbox wagon and produced such memorable cars as the Dodge Omni, Chevy Vega and who could forget the Mustang II? Eventually they all came back to their senses because the reality is, nobody really wants to drive a fucking Prius. I'm sure this will be the nail in the coffin for Mitsu, who other than the Evo has absolutely sucked at cars and trucks for a decade.

The Lotus sell for nearly half of their sticker price with just a few thousand miles on them. If you're looking for a road course vehicle then it's compelling because they are track-ready out of the box. Throw a set of pads on the Exige and your 'modding' is done. You end up spending $15k in mods to get the Evo anywhere near that level and we all know that mods are worth $0 when it comes time to sell the car. |

Re: Evo- no more?
Just need to budget for a Honda K-series swap into the Lotus, since the Toyota motor they come with is a piece of shit. :)
|
Re: Evo- no more?
Yea... Lotus' arent fast at all, so comparing them to an evo is not the same...
