my slow project...
Well about a 2 months ago I bought my 1999 gsx bone stock with 101xxx miles, and the boost bug and got me. 2 weeks later I got an intake, and did all the "free" mods I could do, and a full tune up. Now waiting on the ups truck...
Aem wideband Prosport boost gauge Prosport oil pressure gauge Cheap ass glow shift A pillar pod Megan down pipe MBC Punishment racing FMIC W/some knock off BOV cat back off of ebay :) I am a cheap ass. That is it for now. I think I am off to a good start. After that I am going to see what a tune would be and what all I would gain from it. Or see if it is worth it being I am still on the stock t25. I am not sure if I am going to wait for winter and just do a 6 bolt swap, or do fuel pump, injectors, and a evo16g I feel like that is the only thing I can do right now. Pics will be posted as I receive them, and installing them. One last thing! I have heard different things from different people and would like a strait up answer. Can you tune the stock ecu in a 99 gsx, and is that all for all 99s. Thanks. http://i55.tinypic.com/9t1yk8.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/33xa8oj.jpg http://i54.tinypic.com/8zocc1.jpg |

pics!

Re: my slow project...
You can reflash the 99 plastic ecu's yes. It is possible.

Re: my slow project...
Looks clean, I like the wheels! Now get some springs! haha
I thought the 98-99 7 bolts weren't *as* bad with crankwalk? |
Re: my slow project...
The 97+ 7 bolts cranck walking isn't as common as 95-96. Also, is this a stick or auto? Not a fan of the side skirts and it looks like the back bumper is a aftermarket one? Are you going to swap them out for some stock ones or keep it as is?
If your only going to be running a 16g at the moment I wouldn't worry about doing a 6 bolt swap at this time. Just my .02 |
Re: my slow project...
Stock t25 for now want to put 200 at the wheels.
|
Re: my slow project...
I was thinking of puting it back to stock but i am more interested in making it faster first. Some day i will put it back to stock.
|
Re: my slow project...
I guess I'm not sure how far the t25's can be pushed safely.. 200awhp on shanes dyno you will need a 16g I would think but I could be wrong.
|
Re: my slow project...
I am not to worried about numbers but that is kinda my goal.
|
Re: my slow project...
It can be done. That hollywood kid made 200 on shanes dyno. car looks really clean

Re: my slow project...
Thanks.

Re: my slow project...
It’s been a long time i wasn’t lying when this project is slow... lol
Fmic installed Megan DP installed srs eBay catback installed. The only issue i am having now is fuel cut. I am not sure what i am running for boost. so i am going to take it very easy on the car till Sunday when i can get the afr, boost, and mbc in. I did a BLT right after the fmic install and it was doing very well it would hold psi for 30 sec. and would still have pressure. I think i am going to do one more just to be safe. http://i56.tinypic.com/2h6y0eb.jpg http://i56.tinypic.com/6ru15i.jpg http://i55.tinypic.com/ounnnq.jpg |
Re: my slow project...
could be fuel cutting because of more air going in/out...especially on a stock ecu. I know my cousin's talon was doing this with his e316g + stock injectors. Might need to get more fuel in or just a tune ;)
|
Re: my slow project...
FWD DSMs can hit in the low 200s with the T25 on my dyno, but it won't happen with an AWD, except in shootout mode. I can tune the 98/99 ECU, done a bunch of them.

Re: my slow project...
Lookin' good Joel
|
Re: my slow project...
Nice 2G! Really clean hope to see it around the streets some time!
|
Re: my slow project...
I have a few more things to install 3 gauges and the mbc. And it will be comming to you shane for a tune. Have to get this fuel cut figured out.
|
Re: my slow project...
Well i think i am running very rich because i didnt put the exhaust ground strap back on. Put the silencer in and it seemed to help the fuel cut. Might need to take out the bottom of the maf.
|
Re: my slow project...
Going in for a tune on the 19th at 8am.
still need to get gauges installed. I hope sometime in the next week i can get them installed. |
Re: my slow project...
Gauges are installed time for a tune. Did a quick pull after I installed my afr gauge and at wot it is 10.0 and is pig rich. Going to do a boost leak test.
Also found out i am boost spiking. it will spike to 18-20 psi on the stock turbo when i am under a heavy load. and even when it spikes the afr never goes above 12.0 |
Re: my slow project...
A small turbo like a t25 is going to spike then taper, it's kind of the name of the game. What kind of boost controller do you have and what is it set at?
|
Re: my slow project...
Were you watching the cars leave at back to the fifties by chance?
|
Re: my slow project...
yeah i was. right now it is on the stock boost controller. going to install my mbc right now. and a oil change.
|
Re: my slow project...
well I am happy with the results. my first pull was 145hp...
turned up the boost and end result was 175hp and 215TQ on DB's dyno, and in shoot out mode 211hp and 255TQ. nice little increase also set up launch control. I would like to say thanks to Shane and DB performance. I will be back after turbo and maybe some e85. |
Re: my slow project...
Car looked nice!
|
Re: my slow project...
Thanks man.

Re: my slow project...
Nice gains, post graphs plz :)

Re: my slow project...
Looks like a nice power curve to me. now you got a base line down. What are the next mods you plan on doing?
|
Re: my slow project...
its insane how bad t25 turbos are.
Next will be a 16g fuel pump and injectors. |
Re: my slow project...
Well i am back at looking for more parts just need to decide on what is next.
1 cornering... Polly bushings, strut tower brace, lowering springs and an alignment. Or... 2 more power. Turbo thinking ether a hx35 or just a 16g. Walbro 255hp, fpr, 850cc injectors, and some e85. |
Re: my slow project...
HX35 might be a bit more work than a 16G but a lot more potential.
let me know I a HX35 sitting here that I can get rid of. |
Re: my slow project...
As in more work what all do you mean. The hx35 is a t3 flange right? So i would guess it would be a new exhaust manni and a different intercooler setup.
If i go new turbo now i am only going to look for around 300 wheel and call it good. I have been told that is very conservitive. People saying i can hit 380 to 400 wheel on stock motor it just sounds like a lot. This boost bug really sucks.... Lol |
Re: my slow project...
You can get a bolt on HX35, it just needs the BEP turbine housing. But you will need different feed and drain lines, and a new intake as well, where a E316G would bolt right up, no real changes needed besides a tune.
|
Re: my slow project...
If you are looking for 300 whp I guess e85 and a16g would be a blast.

my over all goal for the car is to beat up on stock c6 vettes and to maybe take it to a road track every now and then. |
Re: my slow project...
95tsi on here runs 880's with his E316G and a 2.3L No idea what his IDC's are, but I'd guess they have to be maxed or dang close. Most will probably just tell you to get 1000's or like FIC 1050's.
|
Re: my slow project...
If your looking for only 300 I have an fp 20g I would sell and then I would buy aarons hx35
