Moving to the Cities!
Hey guys I just thought I would introduce myself. After being in the DSM scene for 11 years I recently sold my 1998 Eagle Talon TSi. Looking forward to meeting you guys and getting to hang out as I know noone in the cities area. My wife and I are moving to Woodbury in the end of June. Still doing the job hunting thing. I was affiliated with www.wingzperformance.com down here in Arizona which was pretty much the innovator in E85 down here as well as flashing stock DSM ECU's. If anyone needs any help feel free to ask!

Re: Moving to the Cities!
Welcome, Woodbury is a nice area.

Re: Moving to the Cities!
That's what I have heard. Problem being I have been offered jobs in Brooklyn Park at the new Honda and Toyota dealerships. I heard traffic is pretty bad in the morning's there too.
|
Re: Moving to the Cities!
I wouldn't want that to be my daily commute (I'm guessing somewhere around 30-40min one way). Woodbury is way off to the east, not very centralised if you haven't found a job yet.

Re: Moving to the Cities!
Welcome!
Yea, woodbury is getting out in the boonies if you're seeing jobs in the NW metro...what type of work do you do? There are a LOT of dealerships in white bear lake, a lot closer to woodbury. |
Re: Moving to the Cities!
ASE Master Certified and L1 certified as well. Thinking of getting into a service advisor/manager role though. Have applied at some dealers in White Bear Lake and the eastern part of the cities.

Re: Moving to the Cities!
Theres a couple places near stillwater

Re: Moving to the Cities!
Welcome! Its to bad you got rid of your talon before you came up here... A lot of ppl would have gone crazy over a 98 Tsi from Arizona!

Re: Moving to the Cities!

Re: Moving to the Cities!
Thanks guys! With E85 readily available up there I really wanna pick up a 1g Auto AWD and go to town. If the right job presented itself my wife and I have looked into Plymouth as well as Albertville to live. But are pretty set on Woodbury.

Re: Moving to the Cities!
It's off the chain in Blaine.
BTW, I used to live in AZ. bum fuk Yuma to be exact. |
Re: Moving to the Cities!
Yeah Yuma is out in it's own little world. Blaine seemed pretty nice too. Your highway system up there sucks though. I am originally from northern Iowa by the way. About 45 minutes south of Fairmont or 45 minutes west of Mason City. Been in AZ for 7 years so looking forward to getting back.

Re: Moving to the Cities!
Being a DSM guy, and applying in the White Bear area, I'm assuming that you looked at WB Mitsu. If you did, and haven't heard back - let me know I'll check in with my service manager. If not, get your ass in to the dealership!
|
Re: Moving to the Cities!
If they are hiring for service advisors or technicians definitely let me know. Probably won't be up there again until beginning of May.
|
Re: Moving to the Cities!
Bah, our website doesn't have a hiring/career's section. I'll ask Kevin tomorrow if we're hiring.
|
Re: Moving to the Cities!
Awesome thanks. I can send over a resume too just incase. Since we aren't moving for a little while.
|
Re: Moving to the Cities!
We're currently hiring for retail sales if that would interest you, we will also be looking for technicians once we move into our new facility. We're located in Plymouth now, but will be relocating to Cottage Grove (just south of Woodbury) end of summer / early fall ;)

Re: Moving to the Cities!
Welcome! Woodbury is a nice area and not too far from me.
Traffic can suck but if you can time your start times early enough or a little bit later than normal it doesn't suck that bad. Good luck on the job search! |
Re: Moving to the Cities!
Yeah, woodbury is pretty horrible for traffic, just 1 main road there and it gets packed from all the people coming over from wisconsin. I used to live there. Nice/rich area and people can be a bit snobby, but was nice overall.
|
Re: Moving to the Cities!
welcome guy, woodbury is nice i work over their occasionally with a lot of people from that area and they love it.

Re: Moving to the Cities!
Welcome! Woodbury is nice. I just don't like working IN Woodbury. haha.
|
Re: Moving to the Cities!
I checked with our service department manager, unfortunately were not hiring.
|
Re: Moving to the Cities!
I work right by the dealerships in Brooklyn Park, traffic is not an issue whatsoever. Places to move nearby would be northern BP, Champlin, Maple Grove or Plymouth. Albertville is a ways away and traffic can suck coming down 94 in the mornings. Woodbury is nice, but you couldn't pay me to live way the hell over there, the west side is where it's at. :D

Re: Moving to the Cities!
Welcome! Have you looked at the lexus dealer? I know we were looking for a techs a bit ago i dunno if they are now or not.
|
Re: Moving to the Cities!
Thanks for checking Bobby. Maybe things will change by June. I haven't looked REAL hard since the move is still 3 months away and people aren't looking to hire that far out.
|
Re: Moving to the Cities!
Ok so we are moving sooner than first thought. Can anyone that lives in woodbury tell me how traffic is going to say eagan or Brooklyn park in the morning. Time wise?
|
Re: Moving to the Cities!
For the most part the Twin Cities does not wake up until 7:30 or so, if you start before that your commute is substantially shorter than after.

Re: Moving to the Cities!
Yeah I would not want a daily commute between BP and Woodbury. 694 east is not fun during post-work rush hour once you hit the Shoreview area.

Re: Moving to the Cities!
^HE is right.
