Project FR-S (Fun but Really Slow)

Figured I'd make a project thread for my new car. I picked up a white Scion FR-S at the end of October 2012 in Green Bay WI after I sold my '99 Eclipse.

http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...40443393_n.jpg

So far I love it. Seats are awesome, one of the best handling cars I've owned, looks pretty decent stock, and it gets pretty good mileage for a fun to drive daily. It really lacks power but I have my motorcycle if I want to go fast. All I wanted a fun daily that had a warranty while getting decent mileage and this fit the bill perfect

Current Mods:
Debaged the dealer sticker and FR-S badge
15% Ceramic Tint done by Tint Pros Moble
Rally Amor Mudflaps (Will install this weekend to help keep the body mint through the winter)
Toyota Badges - I hate admitting that it's a Scion for some reason and I think the badge is cooler (I'm a ricer I know)

Planned mods:
Clear or painted front turn signals
Tinted or painted red tail lights
Shark fin style antenna so it doesn't look like an rc car
Suspension - Haven't decided if I'll go the coilover route or just get some good springs
Strut tower brace, rear strut brace, probably some sway bars as well (Need to do some research on what I want)
Wheels with some sticky tires
Intake/exhaust

I wussed out and got an automatic. I feel like the car should be a manual but I had a few reasons to go with the auto. Reading the forums a lot of people complain about 2nd grinding and that just sounds like a dsm trans to me which I didn't want. The stock clutch felt so light I don't think I would like daily driving it. The auto has paddle shifters and in sport mode it shifts faster than I ever could, rev matches perfectly for me and I no longer hate rush hour like I did in my old dsm's.

Only pic I have of it after the tint

Let me know if you guys have any suggestions for cheap mods!

Nice pick up! I don't know much about these but they look pretty sweet. If it has paddle shifters that shift it like right meow, than that's the route I'd have gone too :)

Great car! Why would you buy a brand new car and look for "cheap mods" though? DSM mentality once and forever ;)

Yes. It's one sexy ass car, just needs more turbo. Kinda like the Saturn Skye when it came out.

I was thinking black but kind of undecided. A little bit of me want the white/black combo but another little bit want to be a little bit different.

Here is probably my favorite cheap wheel setup

Car payments ftl. I like the way it looks besides tiny little things which are relatively cheap mods. But yep, I'll always have that dsm mentality unless I win the lottery.

I wish! Would love a supercharger kit, would make an awesome addition to this car!

Wouldn't consider anything crazy until it's paid off and out of warranty. I'm going to be a pussy and not mess with much so I don't end up making a car payment on something thats blown up

Re: Project FR-S (Fun but Really Slow)

And thanks for all the compliments guys! I really do like the car and can see having it for a while. It's being a perfect dailyso far and although it is slow it's ben really fun to drive and has been averaging 29/30 with mixed driving so I can't complain.

I'll probably put on the mudflaps, yota badges and shark fin antenna this week since it's a short week at work.

As long as the wheels aren't orange or green or some stupid shit. Bronze looks pretty nice on white

Glad to hear you are liking it, you should go push it around some fun roads along the river, that's what we did yesterday.

I wish I could add some sort of forced induction to it. I don't think I'll do much to this thing, just wont have any money and would rather go faster on the bike than make a slow car a little faster but still be a slow car haha

Re: Project FR-S (Fun but Really Slow)

Your car is awesome in GT5 with it 100% stock and Sport Soft tires.
