MHI releasing new evoX turbo at SEMA 2012

1 Attachment(s)
This is for the evoX, expected power output going from 291hp to 450hp. Looks to be a hair bigger than an HTA Green, should be pretty sweet!

This is the hand-out from SEMA.

One reason I like this is more evo x MHI cores out there now too! Yay.

Crazy MHI is releasing more, does this mean if the core is bigger that MAP/FP/BBK and whatnot can make even bigger bolt-up/stock appearing stuff?

Re: MHI releasing new evoX turbo at SEMA 2012

Turbine housing looks to be the same, but the compressor housing appears to be similar to FP's with a larger anti-surge inlet.

Where did you find this anyways? Did you go to SEMA?

FP just posted on their FB page that they have 2 of these ready to be sold already. $1699

I look forward to seeing how this is distributed, if it'll be dealerships or just aftermarket vendors, and how warranty coverage is affected.

Always cool to hear about OEM's working with the aftermarket teams to come up with new products. Reminds me of BW and FR working together to create the EFR line.

Good stuff!

Could mitsu finally see that this size turbo is the perfect upgrade for stock-block cars?

If what robert said is true this is balls-out awesome. Price is really nice and could be the next '20g' that the CT9A evos never got.

Very cool. I'm happy MHI finally caught on to the billet craze. This just means we need to push the envelope even further.

MHI is no stranger to billet. Remember the Greddy T88s back in the day? Those were all mitsu.

But now they are branding it as their own and it's a bolt on turbocharger, not requiring a "kit"

Re: MHI releasing new evoX turbo at SEMA 2012

This turbo will still require all the same supporting mods as an fp green car would.

There is a shop with a crazy forward facing manifold 16g car, i guess its going to get an evo X turbo so they can compete in stock appearing class at the shootout next year.

Re: MHI releasing new evoX turbo at SEMA 2012

Billet means not going to make enough of them to make it worth getting them cast.

Re: MHI releasing new evoX turbo at SEMA 2012

Billet of the same material is actually stronger than cast, the graining structure in the metal lines up better. In this case that allows thinner blades for better flow and spool. The part I don't like about billet is the ridges created on the surface of the blades. I have seen marketing try to pass it off as a positive, but I don't see how it could be.
