Crash!

Just got photos from a friend who witnessed a rollover of a white late model evo. Hope everybody's alright and will be praying for you Bobby if it's you man!

Wow...where and how did it happen? Don Herring Mitsu had a customer roll a brand new Evo during a test drive last year.

Right in front of the volkswagen dealership off of 36, word of mouth is he was going "160" on the highway and lost control.

Kracka 09-22-2014 04:16 PM

Re: Crash!

If that's true, he should consider himself lucky for being hauled off on a stretcher rather than in a bag.

This wasn't a testdrive was it??

I assume this is the guy (guessing kid) who bought it?

Sad to see an evo go down to stupid driving but it sounds like the driver is ok so glad no one was hurt (that has been mentioned anyway).

crazy.

Yea my buddy Sam and my girlfriend work there at VW. Sam said he actually cut his seat belt and pulled him out. I've been told that Sarah says he'll be alright.

Thoughts and prayers are with you man. Don't know what happened but hope you and any passengers are ok.

This forum is small enough, let's stick to the facts and well wishes here please. Anyone posting probably knows him personally.

Situations like this makes one step back and look at the petty things in life that are upsetting and realise how petty they realy are. People make mistakes we are all human. To Bobby and anyone else that was injured I hope you pull through :(

No, his wife was not involved in the accident.

He's ok (all things considered), sounds like he'll be released from the hospital today.

Re: Crash!

Sounds like just one broken rib and a swollen face. Evo safety ftw I guess.

Good luck to you Bobby and others hurt.

Re: Crash!

This can be moved back. This is what I posted on EvoMN:

Quote:

As I'm sure most are aware by now, on Monday, Bobby was involved in a single car accident and ended up in the hospital. He has two fractures, one to his T5 vertebrae and one to his first rib, a bunch of scrapes and bruises, but he looks worse than he is. He had a passenger at the time, a coworker, who was discharged on Monday night with just scrapes and bruises.

Bobby and Sarah had initially asked that nothing be posted to prevent it from running rampant on social media before they had a chance to themselves contact those who should have heard from them directly, hence why I removed the thread here, as a forum user could easily take that information to FB or other social media. It has nothing do to with covering up the accident.

As for what happened, he was doing 80 pinned in 4th on a ramp, and I'm fuzzy on the minute details here, but a truck somehow prevented him from "apexing properly" according to his passenger. Effectively, he had to avoid this truck, which upset the chassis, and then overcorrected. They left the road, hit a light pole, and rolled ~3.5 times, coming to rest on the roof.

Many will recognize the car as Barnett's old RS. Both are lucky to be alive with the way the roof came in.

Right now, the concern is with Bobby's recovery, but eventually it will have to turn to his employment. The car was owned by the dealer, so the risk is very real of him losing his job over this. Despite that, the important fact is that both Bobby and his coworker will be okay, in time.

Kracka 09-24-2014 09:38 AM

Re: Crash!

Glad to hear they will both be OK, and obviously hoping for the best regarding his employment.

Same and I am guessing we all feel this way.

Good luck on recovery and job status Bobby.
