tail light tint

Was wondering who does tail light tinting these days, I'd like to get the tails and 3rd light tinted on my 2010 tundra, I know I can use vht night shade but every time I try to do something like this my self I tend to mess it up some how lol I'd rather pay someone to do it right so it come out nice.

Re: tail light tint

the painter at my work does a hell of a job tinting lights. I think he uses a tinted clear.

Any idea what he'd charge or if he'd be even interested in doing it. Any pics of his work,

Re: tail light tint

Also would like my tow mirrors lenses tinted so it would be 2 tails 1 3rd light and 2 blinker leases

Re: tail light tint

If possible to ask him I'd appreciate that a lot, I'd for the right prices I'd be interested in doing a big lot of lights including my talon tails as well.

I know tint pros tints tail lights and shit too. I'm hopeful I can get my truck in there before too long for tint and if you don't figure anything out by when I go in I could ask them.

Mark you still do it? If so shit I might take you up on doing my Lexus ones. I'm not happy with my results with VHT. Loved the ones you did for my Talon back in the day.

crappy tinting clear? lol thats funny.

Its nice if you want to not go quite as dark to hopefully not be bugged by the cops. But you can go darker. Kind of dirrrty picture

Re: tail light tint

as soon as it warms up a little i'm going to have my tail lights done about as dark as the one in the picture.

Re: tail light tint

I'd like to go just a little darker than that on the tundra but the talon I'd like it pretty dark lol

Halon 02-19-2015 09:43 PM

Re: tail light tint

That's pretty much exactly what I'm looking for, just a shade darker so even the police might not even realize they are tinted.

dbc500 is for tinting with base coat not adding to clear coat. you can do it to clear coat but is really not the right way to do it.

the method is basically taking a single stage and mixing a small amount with clear, and then go over again with another coat of clear. It turns out nice and still retains a gloss. We also use different products, and shoot with waterborne.

At any rate i'm sure he will be happy either way.

Re: tail light tint

This is the old man in me talking, but I've heard of guys getting sued, and losing, after being rear-ended with tinted tails (tinted tails were all the rage 4-5 years ago in Dallas, damn near every truck and SUV had them). If you tint them, my suggestion is to keep them light enough so they could still pass for possibly a factory look (I think this looks better than a dark tail tint anyway).

I'm down for this

Re: tail light tint

Kracka thats my goal. Tinted a little so they have a deeper color and not so bright/cheap looking. Enough that you or I could tell they look a little different, but to any normal person theyd never even notice.
