We are expanding :)
As of the 2nd week of March 2006, LSE Performance will be finished with our expansion.
We are adding an additional 1800 square feet to our facility. LSE Performance will be located at Suite 220 and Suite 213. Our current facility (213) will house all of our install and chassis fabrication. Our machining will all be done in this facility. The front office will be reserved for vehicle pick-up and accounting. This suite will be getting a 2nd lift mid season. The new suite will house our Engine building room, porting and polishing, retail store front, customer lounge, 2 offices, and our 600 square feet dyno facility. The engine room is a totally enclosed and temperature controlled 120 square foot room. This is where all of our short and longblocks will be made. Our porting and polishing room will be seperate from the rest of our facility. Plans are to add a flow-bench mid season. The dyno room will feature this: http://www.dyno.com.au/usa/products/..._450Lowboy.htm http://www.dyno.com.au/usa/specs/specs_450_LB_imp.htm Our Chassis Dynameter is being custom made for our company. Ours will have upgraded retarder units on both axles. This will give us the capibility to graph 2400whp in a 2wd configuration, loading 1200whp. In AWD mode, our dynameter will load 2400AWHP and graph 4800AWHP. Good luck pinning this dyno people :). The dyno was chosen after many months of extensive research. We believe it to be the best choice for our needs. The room will feature a soundproof wall and full exhaust evacuation. Customers can to view dyno results via a TV located inside the customer lounge. This way, there is no fight for "monitor viewing space" on dyno days. Customers who own the vehicle, can watch the vehicle dyno inside the room if they wish. These additions will allow us to further our research and development programs. It will also allow us to better serve our growing customer base. Ground breaking on the new facility is scheduled for February 20th. The dyno is scheduled for arrival and install sometime during the 2nd week of March. We would like to take the time to thank DSMSTYLE and the customers who support us with their business. Without your support, this wouldn't be possible. Thank you all again, this next season will be awesome! Please keep all questions and comments to this thread. A few common ones that I will answer. Dyno rates are expected to be as follows: $150/hr with us tuning. $120/hr with you tuning. $75 3 pulls. $1000 all day on the dyno. (when we open, until we go home. 8-12 hours usually.) That is for personal use, or for us tuning. Dyno days? Please contact us for availability and pricing schedule. Shops? Please contact us for our shop pricing schedule. *All dyno use will feature wideband air/fuel monitoring with a printout of ratios and HP/Torque values after the conclusion of the session. The new shop layouts can be seen here. |
Re: We are expanding :)
This will bring our company to the next level. Now we can provide rock solid numbers to back up our products and our systems we size and assemble. Also we can spread 213 out just a little more to provide a more efficient work space.

Re: We are expanding :)
Pretty cool guys. You going to be hiring anymore grunts to go along with this added space?

Re: We are expanding :)
Gratz guys! I know you are pretty cramped in the space you have now. This should make it much easier for you. Things must be going well!
|
Re: We are expanding :)
Ryan will be coming on full time this spring (if he so chooses). Then we will have to see where we are workload wise. An additional employee or a few employees is a possibility, we'll just have to see how it goes.
|
Re: We are expanding :)
Wow that will be awesome! Congradulations, thats going to be quite a shop guys! I will probably bring up the M just to see how low it will dyno ;)
|
Re: We are expanding :)
Awesome guys!!! I am going to need my car tuned this summer possibly. I was planning on going to Elite, but if you guys have an AWD dyno then that may be a better deal for me!
|
Re: We are expanding :)
I'm coming as well. :)

Re: We are expanding :)
I want in on this low HP numbers game!
|
Re: We are expanding :)
I think my talon in it's current state with it's addiction to 43 counts of knock (even in neutral) could be in that low hp race as well.
|
Re: We are expanding :)
Do NOT make me put the Grand Prix on there.
|
Re: We are expanding :)
Congrats guys, that's awesome news!!! :D
|
Re: We are expanding :)
congrats, i was in there earlier, josh & John were telling me about it, so i drove by 220 and its quite a nice size space. i can't wait. I'm in too for the low hp game. hopefully see you guys in 2 weeks.
|
Re: We are expanding :)
Wow, when this is all said and done, you guys will have a very popular shop
|
Re: We are expanding :)
We could host a low hp dyno day, who ever has the lowest hp # could win a prize. I would like to run a hp shoot out. To see who has the most hp at the wheels, or somthing like that. Thanks for the kind words.

Re: We are expanding :)
I think I could win this one with the CRX. Even though it is measuring compression on the oil pressure guage. And can't get more than 50mph going downhill with a 90mph tailwind.
Congrats on the growth guys. I have to come down there some time soon to see the place and maybe buy a few pieces for my talon. |
Re: We are expanding :)
Looks damn good, congrats.
|
Re: We are expanding :)
Nice! Congrats on the new shop.
Just out of curiousity, how much does a dyno like the one you plan to get go for? |
Re: We are expanding :)
You can get a decent starter home in the outer portions of the twin cities for the price of this dyno! So see you soon!

Re: We are expanding :)
$107,000 base price
+$10,000 for roller upgrade +$10,000 for roller upgrade +shipping and handling +lodging for trainer for our inhouse training. +building the room in to properly support the dyno about $150,000 into this "expansion". More dyno info can be found in the first link. The base model awd mustang dyno is around $60k. I've seen dynojets (2wd) as cheap as $20k on ebay. We felt this is what we need, and we only buy tools once. |
Re: We are expanding :)
Thank you! Definately a good choice! I feel the same way about buying tools once, cheaper and more reliable then having to upgrade a million times or be without because one broke.
|
Re: We are expanding :)
Just didn't want to post up the price as we didn't want it to look like we were bragging. It is a very expensive piece of equipment, like most of the equipment we own.
|
Re: We are expanding :)
I have to hand it to you guy's, I live down south of the cities about two and a half hours, and I think I might show up to get some numbers taken down...
You got it, buy it once and buy THE BEST.:D |
Re: We are expanding :)
Hopefully the day you announce your first Dyno day, I'll be able to come up and join in on the fun.
|
Re: We are expanding :)
Definatly will have to put the saturn SOHC in the low hp contest...
|
Re: We are expanding :)
oh yeah, vw scirocco for the win.
|
Re: We are expanding :)
Just for informations sake:
Who is going to be doing the tuning when you dyno cars? Are any of the LSE owners/employees going through any sort of training to be able to fully understand and setup all kinds of stand alones? What kinds of cars are you going to specialize in tuning? DSMs/3S cars only? Or are you guys going to be broad and tune Hondas and Domestics as well? I have just heard of few horror stories on newer shops blowing up customer cars because of lack of real world experience tuning. Training and reading on the internet can only get so far. Any of you going to AEM training by chance? |

Despite the many hours we have on a dynojet with the EMS (few different setups), s-afc's, gm maf-t's, dsmlinks, etc..we are also attending EFI University to make sure we all have the "basics" down. Of the dozen cars we have tuned on "other people's" dyno's, we've never had a problem and consistantly make good power on many setups. We will stay mostly import on the tuning, but all are welcome to dyno. The aem training is just a "how to" on to operate the software correctly. We already know majority of the in's and out's of them, but will probably attend the class as well. I know on John's personal cars "we" have well over 200 pulls, and countless hours of street tuning, and tuning at 3 other facilities with a variety of setups and platforms. But thanks for the inquiry :). We are not claiming to know everything, but we are very very far from worried when it comes to "nuking" a customer's car by doing a rookie mistake. Finally, our personal cars will be the first to use the dyno. |
Re: We are expanding :)
We will let anyone use our dyno, and we will look into attending a few other tuning classes and read up on all the forms and websites we can find. It is a learning curve, and we as a company will try to stay as fare above the curve as possible. Working on cars is a challenge, there is no point where you will know everything, thats what makes it fun. The ability to adapt and learn somthing new is what defines your success in this industry.

Re: We are expanding :)
What all do you fellas have experience with (tuning methods)?
|
Re: We are expanding :)
AFC, AFCII, AFC/MAFT combos, AEM EMS, Eprom, DSM link, etc. I have helped with tunning: Greddy Emanage, Split second, Hondata, Motec and a few other weird ones.
~John |
Re: We are expanding :)
Are any of you experienced in setting up base maps. Thats where it get pretty tough tailoring a stand alone to closely match someones mods. Most of the good ones (AEM) have wizards for a lot of things but there is still a lot that has to be setup.
|
Re: We are expanding :)
The majority of the popular tuning systems. EMS, Emanage, S-afc, gm maf-t setups, dsmlink, eprom ecu tuning and chip burning, split second, DIY wideband stuff, Z-Tronix wideband stuff, innovative wideband stuff.
Its more of knowing the vehicles, and knowing how to manipulate the software properly. Each manufacture, and more importantly each CAR wants different amounts of timing, fuel, boost. We are going to classes to make sure we know what we think we know (never hurts to learn). Then it is a learning curve, like John mentioned. We will never claim to be the "experts" on any tuning software, piggyback, or standalone ecu, because as we haven't invented it, and tuned every car available for it, on every possible setup, you can't be the expert. |

I know we've been using Elite's dyno since 2001. John has busted drivetrain infront of the shop (funny stuff looking back on it) but we've never nuked one on the dyno. We've also never had a motor come apart now that we are on the "prove yourself" mode. None of us are "Godlike" tuners that tune cars 24/7 (yet, lol!) but its not like we've never seen a "dyno thingy" before. We do appreciate the inquiry and the concerns. Edit* Hell the first time we used Elite's dyno, Issac was "the tuner/dyno operator", and Devon was still there. I think Shane was doing his IT stuff at the time. |
Re: We are expanding :)
We did spend time on the little things that makes the EMS great. We started from nothing and built all the maps to our liking. We set up the cold starts, hot starts, idle, crusing, throtle tip in, etc. I drove the car everyday and in the winter. Started and drove like a champ everytime unless the normal DSM tranny issues or somthing came up. I also would get 25mpg driving around, kind or normal anyways.
