$52/month, full coverage LOL!

Just added the blue 1990 GSX to my insurance plan with State Farm. I already have my 05 Evo and 06 GLI on the same policy, the GSX is going to cost all of $52/month for FULL coverage, $500 deductible. :P

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

I pay like 150 a month just for liability. :(

Lucky bastard :D Do they cover modifications too?

Kracka 04-30-2008 10:16 AM

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

I have State Farm too. I believe they cover $4k worth of aftermarket modifications w/o having to previously disclose them.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

I pay hardly more than that for my Evo. Being old is a good thing.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

I pay $70 a month for my 98 Eclipse full coverage including glass and towing with a $250 deductible! The advantages of being on your parents car insurance!!!!

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

Now tell them that the GSX is your commuting car. This will allow you to list the Evo as a pleasure car and the insurance could be cheaper.

For me it is cheaper to insure my winter car as my commuter and my 3000gt as a pleasure car. However I am younger.

Or just not try to commit insurance fraud to save a few extra bucks?

Yeah, not giving them a way out on a claim when you really need it is a smart thing. An average liability suit in MN is about $251,000. I hope no one here is covered for under 50/100/50. If you hit your mid 20's without going 100/300/100 switch it. It is not that much more if you shop around a bit. Just make sure it is a company that actually has some service when you need it.

Wow I could not get my insurance company to give me full coverage on my 92 Eclipse but what can I say I pay 10 dollars a month for liability on my car. So I guess I can't really complain.

Do to age? Some companies limit comp/coll on older vehicles. '89 seems to be a standard cut off date for the companies I work with.

$80 per six months for liability with Progressive. 92 AWD.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

the more vehicles you have the cheaper i've actually learned, well at least with progressive. i pay 170 a month for 5 vehicles, 2 with full coverage the rest with liability.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

Wow. I think I pay $40 (2001 CR-V), $35 (1985 MR-2), $18 (2001 Kawi ZX6R) and somewhere around $15-20 (Condo Ins.) per month with full coverage. My deductible is $250 and I have pretty high coverages. I love being old and a homeowner!!

State Farm here too. They actually financed my bike a few years back.

My car insurance just went down cuz my parents put their camper on my policy, so I'm now paying $25 a month for Liability on my 92 gsx, and $78 a month for full coverage on my Suzuki SV1000

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

Marriage helps (Thank you!) and so does age. I'm 22 now, no tickets/accident, and I pay $170/month for full coverage on a 2006 Evo, and a '95 Honda Civic. Not bad, and will be even lower when I hit the 25 mark.

Progressive has dropped my payments a fair amount for every 6 months I have been with them. They have been the best company I have ever worked with.

Halon 10-24-2008 12:28 PM

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

Yeah I think I pay around like 60/month total for both cars, liability only.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

My insurance went WAY down. I was paying $140 a month for liability on my 90 Galant through Progressive (I was high risk) now I'm paying $55 for my 98 Altima through State Farm.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

I was paying around $96/month for full coverage in Minnesota, $500 collision/comprehensive deductible. Now that I moved to Iowa for 6 months it dropped to $63/month, with slightly more liability coverage.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

I paid 130 for the talon a month now I pay 65 a month for the mini an that's liability vs full coverage.

I'm switching over to regular insurance and my quote was $45/mo for full coverage on my wife's Trailblazer and my GSX. Being old is good.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

The WRX only made mine go up like 35 or 40 a month also, I pay 190/month for the following:

$30,000 renters coverage
Full coverage on both the Talon and the WRX, including glass and towing with a $500 deductible on each.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

Now you do understand that for example full coverage on a 10+ year old car will get you about $800 if it is totaled your fault or not. You must insure the car at appraised value. My Dad at the time was 65 had a 91 Ford SHO and it was mint condition the car was hit and totaled at a stop sign and the insurance company would only give him $1800 for it. This car only had 45k miles on it. His insurance company would not make up the difference with his coverage and he got $1800. I spoke to my and other insurance company and you must purchase GAP insurance on a financed car or your stuck. Full coverage is a waste of money. My Mustang I insure with Allstate at declared value and even if someone else hits me they must give me my insured coverage value. I pay $400(Apr-Oct) a year on full coverage with declared value of $16k on my '89 Mustang. My sons '91 Talon TSI was declared at $4k and he is 17 pays $48 month on full coverage. I put declared value on all my Full Coverage cars. It is cheaper and if something happens they mail a check. The only problem is that you can NOT Buy the Vehicle Back.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

Hah, I just switched over to consumer insurance again and insured my GSX for $13k in value and it's $48/month. I've also got full coverage for our two newer daily drivers and all together it's $200/month, and we get a $300 yearly decrease in our home owner's insurance, which is dirt cheap for the coverage. After paying $500/mo for the last seven years, this seems like a bargain.

I turned 30 and the Evo is now the cheapest car I've ever insured with full coverage.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

Old thread, but I was surprised to discover that Geico does not like the Evo. They had good rates on my 325xi but wanted something like $220/mo. lol.

I ended up with Progressive at $117/month w/$500 deductible. I figure that isn't bad for a new car. Progressive was also really good when I totaled a motorcycle ten years ago.

Re: $52/month, full coverage LOL!

I moved to Denver, CO and have no insurance. I got pulled over and and the officer gave me a ticket and when I went to court the judge said the fine would be $771 so he gave me a move to get insurance and come back to just get a $200 fine so now I'm in the market for insurance. I will probably just get it for 3 months since the gare will be in storage starting Dec 1st when I leave for the Marine Corp.
