Hi, I just bought a white Eclipse 1G turbo 4x4 and it needs new spark plugs. This will sound dumb, but where are they and how do I change them?

WHERE ARE THEY? :uh:

They are under the cover in the center of the valve cover. Remove the cover, pull out the pug wires carefully, then remove the plugs with a large plug socket. Do this while the engine is warm, makes them easier to get out with less of a chance of the threads being damaged.

your car doesnt have spark plugs and you should sell your car, to me!

Lunar Eclipse 11-02-2003 07:59 PM

really are you interested?? i kind of like it!! this car will sell for tons man!! my car is at 37,000 miles i think that it's due for spark plugs it sems to run rough

Lunar Eclipse 11-02-2003 08:05 PM

Ok I took of the cover and I see where the spark plugs go, but how do I get off these cables? they seem to be stuck and I won't want to electricute myself by ripping them.

OK, this thread has got to be a JOKE :slap:

No I am serious man, help me out! Do These things just pull off? The car is a 92 and I think they are stock so maybe they are just stuck after being on this long? Would it be a good idea to replace those too?

1ViciousGSX 11-02-2003 08:17 PM

If they have been there for a while, it might be tough to pull them out. You won't electricute your self if the engine is not running. Just pull up on the spark plug boot with a slight twisting motion and it should pop out. Don't pull on the wire, pull on the boot. If the wires are original, then I would change them while you're at it.

What brand of plugs are you planning on replacing yours with? I'm hoping that you're going to say NGK.

Step1: Buy a repair manual for the car.

Step2: this is funny.

I see that you've been looking at stuff for your car on Ebay by reading your other thread, service manuals for DSMs can also be purchased on Ebay. It would probably be a better idea to get yourself a service manual and become familiar with the different mechanical aspects of your car BEFORE thinking about purchasing a body kit.

37000 miles on a 92? sell me, sell me

AJ 11-02-2003 10:44 PM

-Yank the fucking plug wires off, toss them in the garbage

-Order up some NKG, Tayor, or Magnecore 8.5mm Wires. If you need parts numbers to order them to be safe let us know.

-get 4 BPR6ES NGK Spark Plugs gapped at .028-.032 to be safe.

-do the install yourself. If you need help, let us know. Sure we may think it's funny, and we may laugh, but you will get the help you need as well.

you know. 2x4 + 2x0 = 4x4. It's like a new thing or something.

Lunar Eclipse 11-02-2003 10:57 PM

Yeah, its 4x4....you know, all the wheels get power. I would think you guys would already know this. I just finished putting the new spark plugs in, I went to Wal-Mart and picked up some Split Fires and the car runs totally awsome now, I guess those plugs really do give you extra power! I will get some wires when I get a chance and some more money. Are they any free things that I can do to make the car blazin' fast? I want to be able to beat my friend's Camaro LS1 but I only have about $200 more to spend.

It's called AWD (all wheel drive) not 4x4 :razz2:

Yeah I bought it from the lady down the street from me...her husband gave it to her as a wedding present and they divorced a few years later and the car practically sat from 95 till now. She said she would drive it for a little bit most Saturdays just to keep stuff from getting stick and dried out...
