3000 GT ?'s

Hello,

I have a question on a 91 VR-4 that I have. It was stored out side last winter, and when I started it this spring it soulds like a diesel. The sound does do away when throttle is applied. The sound is coming from the Driver side near the front bank of the cylinders, but cant pin point for sure.

I was wondering if anyone has ran into this on there 3s? Thinking it might be a balance shaft or someing internal like that? Or could it be a bad tensioner bearing?

Are you talking about lifter tick? That's just the motor not top-oiling. I really hope you are using some good oil, but i doubt it.

BTW, there are no BS shafts.

It isn't lifter tick. Much more serious than that. It honestly sounds like a rattle trap till the throttle is hit.

Sorry I didn't know they were balance shaft less. Just makes one less thing to worry about.

I would have to hear it...this game is pretty hard to play over the web.

Sounds like a lifter if it is the top of the motor.
If it is the "Middle" or bottom of the motor, it could be a rod bearing.

I agree with niterydr...Is the oil level ok? How long have you let it run for? Changed the oil yet?

And this is a fine place to ask, there are plenty of 3/S owners here.

Yea, I know, but it looked like he's never been on the 3/s site. I have a 3/s myself too.

Not in the least.

DSMer=Cheap bastard. Has no idea what "street trim" is. "Needs" their car to run high 10s at any cost, as long as that cost has nothing to do with money. This usually leads to a large fire at the 60ft mark.

3/Ser=Can spend huge money on useless parts and be okay with it. $1000 hard-pipes on a stock car? Sure! Where is my Visa?! No drive to make things better or faster. Content sitting back and watching life go by. While the whole time they are secretly loving Supras for their "moddablity" and hating Skylines for theirs...

DSMer turned 3/Ser= Car has to run 10's at all costs, without the fire. Due to the dsm they previously owned, they usually don't have a valid visa so it takes a long time to build the car. The bought the 3/s for the modibility.

I see maybe I should just part the car out. The noise is louder from the block then the head, but the wierd part is it goes away when you hit the throttle.
