*help*! could it really be knock??

Car: 93 AWD talon 5spd 180,000mi, mods:k&n, hacked can, stock mas,14b, mbc usually set at 14-15psi, ported 2g exh mani, 3in t-back exh, supra tt fuel pump, aeromotive afpr 38psi,s-afc, iv got as much as 40+ counts of knock around 2000+ rpm, at like 15 20% throttle, it happens alot when im trying to accel away from a stop sign, light ect. Even if im in nutral, and i give it a quik blip of trottle up to 1500-2000 rpm more often then not my logger will show like 4,5,6,7,8 counts ect..it varies. Seems to me like my censor is overly sensative or somthing. Am i getting what is know as phantom knock?, or could my lifters be triggering the censor, the head was rebuilt by mitsu about 40k ago. any suggestions?

Could be lifters or motor mounts or the driver side axle carrier or something else making noise. There isn't enough load in neutral or light throttle to make real knock.

what do you think my first plan of attack should be?..i think my problem is going to be hard to pinpoint. Are those things you metioned a common thing to trigger it?

Check base timing, replace knock sensor, try high octane gas, clean lifters if they tick.

If you don't replace the knock sensor, inspect the cabling for it to insure that the braided shielding is in good condition. I had mine come disconnected and that let in a whole lot of noise, which led to problems almost exactly like you are encountering.
