Painting a carbon fiber hood
I've got a carbon fiber hood to paint and looking for some input on how to do it. Google searches indicate to either 1) Just rough it up and then apply base and clear coat or 2) first apply adhesion promoter, then 2k urethane primer, and then the base and clear.
I want the job to hold up for a long time, but don't want to do anymore work or $pending than necessary. Anyone have experience with this? Also, is there anywhere in the metro area where I can get a decent price on painting supplies such as 2k primer? |
Re: Painting a carbon fiber hood
I was drove by Welle Auto Supply today and noticed a sign that said "Paint Supplies" so I stopped in. One quart of Omni 2k urethane primer was more than $60 with the activator. For that price, if i'm going to prime, it's going to be with a 1k spray can.

Got any 2k urethane primer you're willing to part with cheap?
