http://amsteam.net/files/2/DaveB-37R...-Q16-41PSI.jpg I think more tests are in order! Pics of the different blades, notice small details on teh HTA wheel.... regular wheel: http://www.grayforge.com/axis/IMG_0758_zoomed.jpg HTA wheel: http://www.grayforge.com/axis/IMG_0759_zoomed.jpg |
Re: FP HTA37R reviewed by AMS
17whp honestly isnt worth the price in my opinion.

Re: FP HTA37R reviewed by AMS
I agree. It is pretty amazing that they CNC that wheel, that has to take a TON of time! They don't have their speeds and feeds right for machining either, notice the "specs" on the fins. I would have thought they would have tumbled them afterwards to smooth them out more.

Looks nice, but for the price no thanks.

Yes, they are part of the design!
I suspect with some more tuners getting their hands on these we will see some better results. For these bigger turbos, my vote would still go to the HTA35R though, as it makes 37R power and awesome midrange torque. Another guy just made 550whp on pump gas with one yesterday! |

^awesome smiley.
I think i would try a BW ET like B man before this stuff. But for you ballers i can say that the 35HTA was impressive. |
Re: FP HTA37R reviewed by AMS
I don't know. Personally I'd rather pay for good FP stuff that lasts forever than buy cheap turbos that crap out all the time. Considering my bi-yearly turbo upgrade plan, the HTA88 is probably on my list for next year.

Re: FP HTA37R reviewed by AMS
^That is true about FP.

Re: FP HTA37R reviewed by AMS
I think its pretty good for just recreating the wheel! We buy an intake for just about 15-20hp..

Re: FP HTA37R reviewed by AMS
Even though Buschur said he won't test the HTA 37R because he was satisfied with AMS's test, I think he should still do a test using his mitsu style housing. I am also waiting to see results from others who didn't go with the FP changes and just HTA their regular 37R.

Re: FP HTA37R reviewed by AMS
More results, this time in a car with buschur's cast manifold and what is basically FP's cast DSM turbine housing (somewhere between a .68 and a .84).
http://forums.evolutionm.net/showthread.php?t=339470 685whp @ 41psi on some basic 272's, stock IM, TB, and head. http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g3...vo_8/suman.jpg |
Re: FP HTA37R reviewed by AMS
I had kinda figured they would have used an extnded tip design on the HTA wheels. I've never been able to find a good picture of one. But looking at that picture, doesn't appear to have extended tips.
I agree, I'm done buying cheap turbos, hence the reason I paid a bit more for one that is "supposed" to be built to last. We'll see. |
Re: FP HTA37R reviewed by AMS
Do the smaller BWs last? I know some of the Honda guys were complaining about the S372 sized ones not being as durable at the GT42Rs.
|
Re: FP HTA37R reviewed by AMS
I can say that i am torn between the both of these turbos if i need to get another, but so far FP wins for durability because of lack of history of BW

Re: FP HTA37R reviewed by AMS
First time I looked at this thread, and that is crazy machine work on that wheel.
Whats the price diff between a 35r and a HTA35r? |
