Re: Carl's 98 auto AWD project Black Magic
I made some more progress on the motor. If I manage to find some time this weekend the car might be running. Right now my goal is to have it track ready by PG2. As it sits right now I just need to hook up the wireing harness install the radiator and intercooler pipes and put on the transfer case.
on to pictures. http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...pss50kca9g.jpg http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...psu3lhr3s2.jpg http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...pshqjkfazr.jpg |

IT'S ALIVE. .
I got the car all together and started yesterday. Today I the did some break in pulls. Following the motoman break in procedure. It runs smooth and feels a little stronger off boost. I plan on changing the oil tomarrow and running out the E70 left in my tank before turning it up. PG2 here we come. |

Re: Carl's 98 auto AWD project Black Magic
The car has been running great. I carpool to work, so my wife has been daily driving it for me. I think she has driven more miles sine the new engine than I have. I did take it for a long drive last week and was super excited when I drove the whole time with the AC on with no overheating issues. Saturday I retorqued the head studs and looked everything over. it seams good. I still haven't turned the boost up. I think part of me is scared its going to blow up again even though I know the new motor can take it. Im thinking of passing on proving grounds. I just don't have the money to waste right now, but well see.

I hear ya, it's not in my budget either. Been having fun doing full throttle runs all the time though.

Re: Carl's 98 auto AWD project Black Magic
I took the car to the track today. All in all it was a very good day. The car drove great the 250 mile round trip to Rockfalls and back. I was able to run a new personal best in th the car with a 11.347@112.41. The low trap speed was due to the car breaking up at the end of the track. I think if it hadn't broken up I might have managed the 10.99 Ive been wanting. I went back to the pits reduced the gap in the plugs changed the tune and went back out and managed to miss shift a automatic. Thank god for rev limiters. I managed 4 more run with 118MPH traps, but could never get a good 60ft to get me the ten. I am very happy with the car today exspecialy after how my season started.
