Evo Gearing Chart
This is good info so I figured I post it up in a separate thread.
This is assuming you are running stock sized tires on each car. For gas milage considerations, here is a break down top gear RPM at various cruiseing speeds on the highway. speed . . . Re: Stock Evo Gearing Chart
Makes me wish I had the MR with 6-speed instead.

Re: Evo Gearing Chart
Even an Evo VIII would be nice compared to the IX. OH well.

Re: Evo Gearing Chart
I never realized IX gearing was so much shorter than VIII.

Just wanted to add that you can go around 126mph at the top of fourth on the MR tranny at 8500rpm. :D |

Re: Evo Gearing Chart
All scheides' talk about X gearing in his project thread got me to thinking about the gearing on those things. Is it much different from 8/9's? Anyone done a log good enough to add to this first post?

Re: Evo Gearing Chart
I'm just excited about the longer first gear in the Evo, I hate that every day when I drive my GSX. Evo's just about done. :D

Re: Evo Gearing Chart
X GSR gearing is the same as IX GSR gearing.

Re: Evo Gearing Chart
Indicated redline is 7k just like the DSM/8/9 and I think rev-limit is up around 7,500 just below where the 8/9's is.

Re: Evo Gearing Chart
Holy short gearing Evo IX GSR.

Re: Evo Gearing Chart
Yeah I really don't see what the concern is. It's an Evo, not a Corolla. The high-revs aren't hurting the engine any and the gas mileage isn't that bad considering the nature of the car.

Re: Evo Gearing Chart
Figured I would post my findings for FWD DSM's. The 2g turbo FWD's 1st gear is a tiny bit shorter, but it makes less than 1/10th of a mph of difference.
