I get it dude, you don't have to tell me. I think I've texted you every track outing I've had or you have been there to see the "fun" I've had.

Yeah my launches weren't very good toward the end but my R/T's were solid and thats where I got everyone. I'll learn as time goes on, my first time on a track ever was this weekend. My 60's were consistently 2.0s 2.1s both Saturday and Sunday. And from everyone who ran Fridays test and tunes said the track was slower on the weekend. Hell Rons best time was 11.2 and thats with a 5858 on it.

I think I raced you during one of my passes during the open testing. You definitely took me at the line. I was waiting for boost at the line but almost ran you down.

Yeah dont get me wrong Im happy I did well but I had blast just driving the car balls out for once. If I wouldve lost to whoever it still wouldve been my favorite car event to date. Cant wait for Sept. I'm def going to get into the autox and road course more. The autox looked soooo fun

That's badass if you already had everyone on RT, looks like you are well on the way.

Strange a lot of people are complaining about track prep, i'm wondering if the humidity fucked it up a lot.

Racing isn't as easy as people on the interwebs say it is. Nice job out there tho, car was very consistent.

I thought the track prep was amazing up until Sunday afternoon after the elimination races they didn't seem to prep the track again. My feet were sticking most of Saturday at the starting line

You auto guys need to get a stall converter or something to build boost faster at the starting line. You just use nitrous.

Re: Carl's 98 auto AWD project Black Magic

^I'm an auto guy and do not need to be included in that statement.

I picked up a restalled converter 2 yrs ago, and I have a line on a wet kit when I need it.

Anywho, how is the car running now that PG is done>? Any changes that you are going to make now?

My car usually stalls really good. but the hot humid air mixed with not warming up my trans just made it take longer then normal. I looked for a restall when I was rebuilding my trans but it wasn't in the budget. Nitrous is not allowed in the SA class.

I haven't driven it since I got home on Sunday. I rolled into town on fumes and I am to cheap and lazy to go fill it up. I will probly make a box or something around the air filter to help get the intake air temps down during stalling. they drop to ambient as soon as the car builds up some speed but they were in the 120-140 range when the car was sitting still. I think this will help stall the car better. I mostly plan to just drive the car and not spend any money on it.

I spent a few hours today making a block off plate to keep hot engine bay air from my air filter. I am hoping this will help the car stall faster on hot days and mabey make a few more horsepower at he same time.

I started by making a cardboard template.

http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...ps490d7877.jpg

After a few test fits I transfered the template to some scrap sheetmetal I had. And cut ot out with my die grinder. Cutting sucked. I need to gets some electric tin snips.

http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...ps00607e9d.jpg
http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4d0f12c9.jpg

I bent the sheet metal over the edge of my work bench. Its not perfect but it will do the trick. I then test fit it a few more times and got it to fit nice.

http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...ps5175e92c.jpg
http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...ps085c03f8.jpg
http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...ps268ddb74.jpg

After I was sure I got the fit I wanted I painted it with some Black paint I had sitting around and wraped the edges with some foam tape scraps we throw away at work. it fits nice and tight.

http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...psa53c11ce.jpg
http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0ba2f5da.jpg
http://i1124.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0c95a8e4.jpg

All of this was done with parts I had sitting around. so my goal of not spending any money on the car is still intact.

That air box seems like a good idea. You could even take out the headlight at the track for even better air flow.

Is it bolted to anything other than the maf? Will it bounce around at all?

It is just bolted to the maf. It fits so tight I dont think it will move. When the hood is closed it is almost clamped into place. I thought about removing the headlight we'll see when the time comes. It is kind of a pain to remove. The whole area below the filter is cut out from the previouse intercooler setup so there is plenty of airflow coming from below.
