hey what is the ecm reset procedure on my 2003 evolution. just disconnect the bat for a few mins or does it need to be done with a scan tool of some sort? oh and is there an idle learn procedure like the newer hondas that i'm used to???

After looking through the tech manual for the Evo, I can't find anything about using a scan tool to reset the ecu, so I think that you should be able to just pull the battery terminal for a minute or two to reset.
Good luck with the car.

Yeah, i know just disconnecting the battery works for us, so it should for you too. As far as the whole "learning" thing. I know our ECUs have what are called long term fuel maps. If the ECU is repatedly changing the fuel ratios in the same manner it will start to remmeber and use that setting by default. As far as i know anyway, the whole "learning" process is still a little unclear to me.

sorry, the "idle learn" bit is a honda thing. it happens to be what i'm used to. i'm doing my own "learn thing" right now. thanks for helping though. a-lo

If I recall correctly, on DSM's you need to leave the battery disconnected for at least a few hours for the ECU the reset. I could be wrong on this though, hopefully someone can say for sure.

From my experience 10-15 minutes works well.
