What is 1ViciousGSX doing these days???
First off, YES I STILL HAVE VICIOUS. Not getting rid of it anytime soon. But I did take a break from doing anything with it. It's just sitting and staring at me when I walk by. I really just dropped out of racing and performance cars for a while.
But that just changed in a BIG way. I'm not new to Chevy's or El Camino's. This was my first El Camino, a 1972 El Camino SS that I owned back in the mid/late 1980's. It's now been 20+ years since I sold that '72 El Camino SS. It was a show stopper, won some type of trophy at any car show it was entered in. Here's a pic of me with the '72 SS back then. I have more pics stored away which I'll be glad to share when I can. The hair and the shorts are long gone. :rock2: https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-o...l%2BCamino.jpg At that time I really wanted more of drag car, so rather than cut it up, I decided to sell it to somebody in a car club with me. I've regretted selling that El Camino ever since, it's always been the "If I could only have one car back" car. Well here it is 20+ years later and I found a 1969 El Camino SS I just had to have and the timing was right. Once I saw it, I knew it would be mine. My fiance' supported my decision and here it is. Quick run down: 468cid, 11.1 compression, 4-bolt, steel crank, Eagle rods, 700 lift Crane roller, big port cast iron heads (840 castings), Holley 850 dp, Wilson Manifolds prepped intake, Wilson fogger and plate system (150 shot each), turbo 400, 2800 stall, 12-bolt posi, Richmond 4:88 gears, Strange 32-spline axles, 4-link rear end, plenty of other odds and ends to go along with all that. https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-U...-h646-no/1.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-o...-h646-no/4.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-k...646-no/5np.jpg https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-W...646-no/6np.jpg https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-R...-h646-no/8.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-C...-h646-no/9.JPG https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/-h...h646-no/11.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-x...h646-no/14.JPG https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-D...h646-no/18.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-x...h646-no/20.JPG https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-e...h646-no/21.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-K...h646-no/23.JPG https://lh5.googleusercontent.com/-m...h646-no/24.JPG Hope you like. :seeya: |
Re: What is 1ViciousGSX doing these days???
That is one BADASS El camino! That rear end looks super beefy! Did you buy it like that or built it yourself?
|
Re: What is 1ViciousGSX doing these days???
Very mucho like!!!
I'm also going the way of an older car next, just trying to nail down what to get. |
Re: What is 1ViciousGSX doing these days???
Thanks guys.
I bought it this way. But as any car builder will tell you, I got it for half of what it cost to build. It'll be fun for sure. Even though my GSX is a blast to play with, I was brought up on muscle cars and this is a great fit for me. |
Re: What is 1ViciousGSX doing these days???
Very cool. It looks like it is well put together. That though fender exhaust must be loud as hell.
|
Re: What is 1ViciousGSX doing these days???
It has a true dual exhaust system under it which is really quiet. Flip a switch on the dash and change over valves go to open headers through those outlets.

Re: What is 1ViciousGSX doing these days???
Looks badass!
What kind of power does it make? Ever plan on taking it to the track or know if the previous owner did? |
Re: What is 1ViciousGSX doing these days???
Honetly I don't know, I havent tracked it yet. The previous owner built it to be an extremely fast show/street car and has never tracked it himself because his health has deteriorated to the point where he can't drive it anymore. All indications show it should be at least a good low 11 sec car before spraying any nitrous down it. Conservative estimates on the engine are 600-650hp which seems very reasonable, then add in two stages of 150hp each of nitrous for 900-950hp and it should get very close if not into the 9's on a good day.

Jesus Christ, the past resurrected. I forgot you had such a clean 2G. BADASS El Camino, the pick of the rear end / tires / fuel cell just made me chuckle with glee. Keep us updated!!

Badass car man, I can't let my wife see this or she will want an old school muscle car too, haha.

Re: What is 1ViciousGSX doing these days???
Damn, that Camino is tits.
|
Re: What is 1ViciousGSX doing these days???
Yeah, you can tell the quality work that was put in to it. Very nice! I was thinking it would be very loud too, but cutouts are awesome. Love the huge meats in the back.

Re: What is 1ViciousGSX doing these days???
Couple of vids from the previous owner. You can hear the exhaust both ways.
