Going to be a great setup! Are you doing a ported TB too?

Eventually. The throttle body port on the intake manifold will be ported to 65mm so I don't have to do it later. It's a simple swap so hopefully get one put on before I let Shane put it on the dyno again.

Three weeks according to Bob himself.

As far as plans beyond what I've laid out here... At the MAC meeting last night the discussion of E85 and methanol injection came about, and plainly put meth injection is not legal for autocross, you may only inject water. As far as E85 goes the only thing that makes me shy away from it is its availability, both in terms of pump locations and long term production. Both have pros and cons so I'll just have to decide if I want to stick with pump gas or deal with adding on of these to the equation.

Nice looking build, this looks like it will be bad-ass. This is all on the stock turbo still?

Evo 9 turbo, so it's stock I guess. :)

Haha, no problem. Turbo isn't ported, but we'll gasket match it when we have it apart. Coating is rather expensive, and I am mostly afraid of it flaking off anyway.

3 weeks is the lead time from MAP, then just need time to organize how it will all go down. Will let you know.

Also, I thought more about E85. I currently drive the car too much to make it worthwhile. If it was a fun car and I wouldn't have to worry about going very far then I'd probably be all over it, but seeing as how I sometimes go through a tank of gas or more a week I don't want to have to be dealing with finding an E85 station all the time.

With Scheides' and Rosey's help last night I took out the busted ass Ksport coilovers and installed the Swift Spec-R springs on the stock struts. I like my car again. It fixed everything I hated about the coilovers and the stock suspension. It's firm, but comfortable, hard to explain. But definitely not jarring like the coilovers ever were.

Were they jarring because they were blown? Or just too stiff?

They were stiff, this was before they were blown. The control of those shocks was terrible, making them full firm was okay but it wasn't all that firm, and really wasn't apparent until you pushed the car. Make them soft and the car was bouncy as if it had no shocks at all. Just a terrible product for us northerners that don't have perfect roads.

Nice Matt,

Cant wait for you to get all the improvements in the car, Do you feel you lost or gained in the handing department for auto -x? I will be rocking the stock supension again this year with just the aftermarket rear swaybar, been really happy with the combo so far.

I honestly do not think I'll be any worse off with this setup versus the coilovers. The stock struts have far greater compression and rebound control than the Ksports, and these springs are only slightly softer at their peak. I'm already a firm believer of using stock struts and good aftermarket springs over cheap coilovers. The rear swaybar helps loosen these cars up so much, it's immediate gratification.

As far as autocross goes, who knows. Right now it looks like I'll be codriving a well built Subaru WRX in STX this year.
