Twin stock fuel pumps? :O

Well what do you guys think? I have no money for aftermarket parts. Yes I know fuel pumps are very cheap. But hell, I have no job and always looking for something to do all week, and have 2 working stock fuel pumps and the knowledge to hook them up together. So why not? This way I could up the boost in my daily a bit without having to worry about running out of fuel. Discuss..

I thought they really tapered off at higher than stock fuel pressures compared to the walbros. So they might not do that much at higher boost anyway. I'll try to look for a diagram of flow/pressure on a stock compared to aftermarket ones.

EDIT: This diagram is for a stock 3/S VR4 pump which probably outflows the stock dsm pump by a fair amount. At 20psi boost (around 60psi fuel pressure) a single 255 hp will flow almost double. So I'd say twin stock pumps is definitely not worth it.

You'd rather go through the trouble of buying stuff to make the 2 pumps work than to shell out $50 for a used 255 or something?

Your daily only has 390 cc injectors anyways. You'd max those out before the pump I would think.

The car has all manual parts swapped on it. It's just out of curiousity and it wouldnt require much to make the pumps work. Basically a T fitting and some wiring.. There is obviously a little more to it but that's the jist of it.. Why not think outside the box?

Its scary outside the box. But if your not thinking of running super high boost I think it would be just the kick you need.

You'll need the T-fitting (mine was a 3/8 fitting that cost somthing ridiculous like $10 from Ace). You'll need some fuel line, fuel line clamps, and some hose clamps clamp the dual assembly to the sending unit, wire, wire crimps, and that's probably about it. If you shop around, or if you have some of the stuff already, you might not have to spend that much.

But like Cher said, a used 255 isn't all that much, and you know it'll still flow somewhat decent at higher pressure levels.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Try it out and let us know how it goes. Maybe you just found a new way for us DSMers to be cheap bastards

How about getting a cheap used Evo pump for $20 instead?

Evo pump for 20? What, where? lol

Re: Twin stock fuel pumps? :O

Do you have a fuel pressure regulator? At base fuel pressure even two stockers could overrun more than a single rewired 255.

Search EvoM and EvoMN; the VIII pumps are worth dirt since the IX pump flows more, but its still a nice upgrade for a DSM (I put a VIII pump and injectors in my Laser).

Cool thanks Kracka! I still might do this just for something different. I don't care even if I can't turn up the boost it would just be a little experiment. I will be grabbing my logger when I come home so I can log it and she how well it works or doesnt work..

I would see where you're at with the logger before you do anything. Check those idc's for sure.

Like I told you on aim, with my 450's, maft, and short route fmic my idc's were at 90% at 15 psi.
