e85 question
well i was jst wondering i guess what you think would be better
set up 1: e316g evo 9 pump 560 maft blowthrew tuned on 93oct at 21psi setup 2: e316g not sure what pump 780cc injectors maft blowthrew set for 550cc and finish tune with safc2 on e85 not sure what boost i want to know how much hp i would probably get out of each set up and which one you think would run better, turbo is already in thats not gonna change maft blowthrew is already in and not gonna change other than that, no dsmlink lol cant afford it |
Re: e85 question
Do you have a FMIC? For a pump I would just go with a Walbro 255HP.
Not real sure how well the MAF-T and SAFC II would be for tuning, probably not ideal, that's for sure. I would go with a $10 chip from Shane with a custom dyno tune on it. Getting dyno tuned is the only way to go, especially if you're not real sure at what you're doing when it comes to street tuning. That way you could sell the MAF-T/SAFC to help pay for the tune. :D |
Re: e85 question
well i want the maft for the blow threw because my 16g spools to full boost by 3k no bs and i like my bov =)
i guess i know 780cc will work, but i dont know what my limit to boost would be then idk if i would gain any benifits over the 560's on 93 =/ i mean i know nothing about e85 except it takes mre to make the same power with no knock and im on stock smic |
Re: e85 question
Honestly the two setups seem quite a bit different. Just do it right and do it once.
Sell the MAF-T and use the money towards DSMLink :) I had maf-t on two of my cars, and it is nice, but DSMLink is way nicer. Evo9 pump is fine unless you're gonna rock E85, then you'll need a walbro255. Evo560's will be plenty if you stay on pump, otherwise 780's might be a tish small for E85, 880's should be good. Either way, get it tuned for the best results. Make an appointment with shane, trust me :) |

As for the mAd TytE BOV sound, whatever floats your boat man, I would rather have a Shane tune and quieter BOV if I was on a budget I guess... |
Re: e85 question
I smell ricey BS.
I had a response typed then caught u have a SMIC. I doubt you will be getting to 21psi on a SMIC at least happily. The SMIC would be alright on E85. You could always sell your sweet MAFT, but it seems like you like your awesome sounding BOV. |
Re: e85 question
treed.
lol spool time on a 16G. |

i'm sure you can easily boost 15psi...... .. ... .tuning is your friend |
Re: e85 question
Stock SMIC + 16G + Pump Gas = lots of knock
|
Re: e85 question
i think from what I'm reading, your mod list should be this(?):
- e316g - 272s - 780cc - fmic - manual boost controller - e85 - 255 fuel pump - tuning tuning tuning. - should definitely be more than safe @ 15psi. |
Re: e85 question
What about 21

Re: e85 question
I have had SMIC 16G pump gas cars that we couldn't safely run over 13psi on. A good tuning system that can control timing will greatly increase your chances of being able to run higher boost on pump gas. The stock 1G timing maps are too much for decent amounts of boost on pump gas an using a tuning system like an SAFC, MAFT or VPC that just tricks the ECU via the airflow signal, they also makes things even worse by adding timing if you lean out the mixture. If you richen the mixture, then you hit fuel cut.
I did one SAFC E85 car with a 16G and stock SMIC that we were able to get up to 20psi before we ran into too much knock and had to stop there(the SAFC was making it add all kinds of timing). I tuned CVDs Colt the other day with a 16G and stock DSM SMIC on E85 and we were able to run something like 26 or 27psi, but we had full control of everything using EPROM tuning and could keep the timing in check. |
