Car Shivers?
 

Sorry but I don't know where to post this. Awhile back when my Eclipse GST was still okay, I remember getting up to 100 mph without any car problem. Then last November, tranny went out and bought a used 40k tranny. I also had to changed the clutch as well. I had the ACT 2100 but I changed it to something else, but I'm hoping to buy the ACT 2100 again and put it in sometime later.

With the changes, it seems as if it's not as quick as it use to be at acceleration anymore or when I downshift. And when I get up to 100 mph or near it, car shivers. Give me your comment on this. I'm just wondering if I should be aware of anything dangerous to the car.

I'm sure this is in the wrong place. Check the balance on the tires. That often makes cars shake at high speeds.

Are you fucking serious? When I read the title I thought your car came from fucking Florida and it wasn't used to the cold up here.

Take the damn thing to a tire place and have them check the balance on your rims and tires. Check the lug nuts yourself to see if they are loose.

This is a joke right?

Back in the old days we would jack the car up and actually look around to find the problem. :D Doesn't anyone buy a Chilton's anymore?

I have Haynes :D. Is there a difference (one better than the other)? I'm sure it has nothing to do with the tranny.

On some subjects a Chilton's manual will have more information than a Haynes, and vice-versa.

When you swap transmissions in a DSM you have to pull apart front suspension parts. A visual inspection would be the first step in the process.

The Haynes is far better than the Chiltons for 1G's. I use my Chiltons for 2G stuff or to wipe my ass.

Try staying in a lower gear and match the rpm that you use at 100mph and see if the car still has the problem. That would localize it to something you did with the tranny instead of something with the wheels or suspension. Did you get an alignment after you took the passenger side apart to get the tranny out?

Man you need to define more in detail about shivering. That does not make any since. But yeh check your tires out and check out your front hubs. That is a good place to start out. You need to make yourself clear about your car is not as fast as it used to be. You know that you get use to the car and it seems slow after owning it for so long right. What year is your GST?

Haha, damn! Sorry for being uneducated in cars. Jeez! Which is why I came here for questions but if you don't got any good answeres then don't answer. But for those who gave advice and suggestions, thank you very much. I'll take those into consideration. It's a 1996.
