Ramp ideas
have a friend with an Eighteen wheeler that is going to tow a car for me. The problem is that we don't have a ramp to drive the car on to the trailer. Does anyone know a place that rents ramps or has a good Idea of what we can use to drive the car onto? He thinks some 2X4 or 4X4 will work, but I think the car is too heavy for that to work.

Re: Ramp ideas
Go find yourself a construction company that has a loading dock. Drop-deck trailers aren't always used so there has to be a loading dock floating around somewhere.

Re: Ramp ideas
how long of ramps do you think you need? i might have some large I-beam that would work as ramps

Re: Ramp ideas
yes, i know a perfect place. if you know where the old aliant tech building is off excelsior in hopkins just east of 169, they converted it into a storage facility on the back side, and there is a loading dock in front of the building but room to drive a car onto the dock. (it's outside). if that's too far, there are lots of places downtown with docks.

Re: Ramp ideas
Definitely do the dock thing. An 18-wheeler trailer is to high for ramps of any kind unless they were well-braced and had channels to keep the wheels in.

Nahhh, they took all the goodies out. I happened to be in robotics club in high school and they met there. I've seen things no human should ever see - robot nerds. Anyway, they rent out rooms in there to people looking to store things or make things, i think there is a basket weaving business in there. They had pictures of big guns and jets dropping missles and bombs all over all the walls when it was ATK. |
Re: Ramp ideas
A lot of furniture outlets and snowmobile/motorcycle dealers have ramps behind their buildings. Might be worth looking into?
