Wiring Harness Differences
I am looking for the differences in the wiring harness throughout the 1Gs. The reason I ask is somewhere along the line someone clusterfucked a security system into my car ('92 Laser RS, AWD, 5Sp). Now the security system is not functioning properly and currently I can not get it to disarm and allow my car to turn over. So, instead of trying to piece back the wiring harness after removing the security system, I'm interested in replacing the wiring harness. However, between VFAQ, here, Toonerz, and NABR, I can not seem to find any definite answers as to the difference in wiring harnesses throughout the years(unless I'm just blind which is always a possibility). Since there are a number of differences on the '90 1Gs compared to the '91-'94s, I assume the wiring harness is also different, but someone please correct me if I'm wrong.
So, which wiring harness(es) is a direct replacement for my '92 Laser RS, AWD, 5Sp? Thank you |
Re: Wiring Harness Differences
There are at least four that I found. 90's have their own for each of the 5-speed and the auto, and then the 91-94 have two as well. The autos can be used in the 5-speed cars as best I can tell, you just swap one of the ECU plugs from your old harness. I've got a 91 auto harness I'll be swapping into my 92 5-speed. I'm planning on stripping the whole thing apart though and only keeping what's still in my car and adding four more injector wire sets.

Re: Wiring Harness Differences
when I did the 2 turbo swaps in my cars
my 92 got a 91 harrness and my 91 got a 93 harrness as long as it is 91+ it will work for you |
Re: Wiring Harness Differences
All 1g turbo harnesses should be the same except for the pin swap necessary on a '90 and '91-'94.
