Need help on tuning ???
I bought an S-AFC 2 and my Mods include everything listed 255 walbro fuel pump, 660 injectors, rewire kit on fuel pump, big 16g turbo, FMIC, IC hardpipes 1g BOV, AVC-D boost controller, MAF-T, 3-in GM MAF, blow through set up, nothing is installed yet I guess I was just wondering since the S-AFC 2 is gonna require some dyno time, should i just sell the S-AFC 2 and save the money from dynoing and get DSM link and street tune with that, or will I still have to dyno tune with DSM link... What are your thoughts

Re: Need help on tuning ???
Street tuning without a wideband o2 sensor isn't the best idea. I mean it works usually, but you won't get a true reading of richness or leaness. You have a small turbo so most of your other mods aren't so needed.
I personally wouldn't invest in a lap top + dsmlink + chipped eprom ecu for a 16g equipped car. It seems a bit overkill. SAFC2 + some dyno time should do the job fine. I'd worry about getting your parts installed before you go buy a dsmlink :P |
Re: Need help on tuning ???
thanks thats what I was kindof thinking... I ll just stick with what I got and when I get a 6 bolt a 20g I should have all the supportingmods, then Ill go to DSM link. Ill just spend the money and get my ass on a dyno

Good thinking. I definitly agree with your decision.

Re: Need help on tuning ???
I have to disagree. DSMLink is far more superior than an AFC setup no matter what modifications you have on your car. Then once you have it you dont have to upgrade again just to run a bigger turbo/injector setup.
I was just talking about this with another guy. He wanted to do the same thing. Running 660s and the AFC your timing is going to be quite high and your air flow is going to be a lot lower considering the AFC just lies to the computer. I'd suggest save for DSMLink and for a wideband O2 or dyno time. Get the big stuff now, like if you get DSMLink you can choose any injector you want from 450s to 1600s and run them with whatever setup you have then never have to upgrade again. For example: You could have a completely stock engine bay, turbo and all, and with DSMLink you could run 1600cc injectors and have it run/idle like it has stock injectors in it and still maintain stock fuel mileage. Kinda overboard but you get the idea. DSMLink would be the better choice in my opinion. |
Re: Need help on tuning ???
You can tune with the MAFT also. Without a wideband setup, you probably don't want to street tune a DSMLink, SAFC or MAFT.

Re: Need help on tuning ???
with DSM link do I have to get a AFPR???
|
Re: Need help on tuning ???
To do it the right way, you should get a FPR no matter what with a 255lph pump.

Re: Need help on tuning ???
OK I think Im going to buy Chers old one from MirageMan on here just making sure cause thats more $$$

Re: Need help on tuning ???
Obviously DSMlink is better in every aspect but he has an AFC now and doesnt have the cash for dsmlink. So it makes sense to tune off on a dyno until he sets the bar higher
