Round - A - Bout
you heard it right, there is a round-a-bought in my home town, on 109th
(take 169 North and take left on 109, drive straight, well, until you get to it.) This is what happened when we saw it...I highly recommend that everyone else on this board do the same to show our "support" of that engineering masterpiece. P.S. If you dont actually do anything about it, go and take a look-see what we did to it :) http://www.iceminion.com/roundabout.divx (you are gonna need divx player from divx.com) |
Re: Round - A - Bout
I dont get it? You have never seen a round about? There has been one just north of Owatonna for a couple of years ago. Pain in the ass at first but they really keep traffic going once people are used to them.
I am guessing you dont like them:confused: |
Re: Round - A - Bout
There is one in maplewood no st paul area
|
Re: Round - A - Bout
Theres on in minneapolis too on Minnehaha and 45th? People are retarded and cant read yeild signs.
If you go to Europe dont get stuck on the far inside lane :) |
Re: Round - A - Bout
The first time I ever saw one was when I was in iraq 2 years ago, I remember saying to myself that I was glad america didnt have one.
But I was wrong.....very wrong. No, I dont like them, I think they should be plowed over.... |
Re: Round - A - Bout
there were 4 in a row where i lived in Golden CO... it was a HECK of a lot faster going thru there than 4 stoplights in a row. Biggest problem is most morons dont know how to drive in them
|
Re: Round - A - Bout
They were all over in Spain, and in Southern Florida. They got annoying, but I do agree they keep traffic moving better then stop signs
|
Re: Round - A - Bout
I was in germany and they werre all over too!
|
Re: Round - A - Bout

Re: Round - A - Bout
The is one in the Elko/New Prague area. I love going down there late at night when there are no cars and just flying around it!

Re: Round - A - Bout
Here's an image I found from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Roundabout.
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...out_8_Cars.gif Hopefully that gives you an understanding of it. I actually didn't know what it was at first and had to do some research. I think that should be right. |
Re: Round - A - Bout
It is by far the best way of controlling mildy busy intersections. And there is no doubt who is at fault any time there is an accident in one (which is very rare due to their design). Whoever enters the circle first has the right of way. Not to mention you are never going head to head with another car at the intersection. Only problem is no one seems to know how to use their signals in them. They are all over in Norway as well. Used to drive through them there too.
Tauni, I know exactly which one you are talking about. I drive through it everyday to work. On the bike is the best though. You lay down so far you can almost lick the pavement!! |
Re: Round - A - Bout
If you go to Tamarac village in Woodbury there is one in the mall, its pretty fun, its much wider because there are stores in the middle of it but could make for some great drifting movies
|
Re: Round - A - Bout
They are all over in FL, where I'm from. I've seen them since I could have my eyes open. People were used to them down there, and it really did keep traffic going. During my high school years, my friends and I would get like 5 cars out there and keep going around and around. We kept traffic from going through. lol At nights we would make a left turn, and drive the opposite way. Just stupid young stuff to do with round abouts.

Re: Round - A - Bout
Yea, I drove on a few in the UK, pretty fun. That wikipedia animation explains it pretty well, although it's kind of mindboggling if you stare at it for a while!
