"50 trim" vs ball bearing "50 trim"?
I am going to be buying a PTE SCM-5031E (54mm .63ar)this winter for my Talon and was wondering if anybody here has tried one utilizing the dual BB CHRA rather then the traditional thrust bearing? If so, is it worth the extra cost? Also, is there any practical advantage to having a T3 vs Mitsubishi housing?
Thank you. |

i think swanny is running DBB fiddy trims.
the t3 housing will flow more and make more power, assuming its .63 or larger. |
Re: "50 trim" vs ball bearing "50 trim"?
u'll pick up somewhere around 400-600 rpm's on spool-up on a ball bearing center as compared to a non-bb center

And have almost no lag between gears, assuming you do not shift like an old lady.

If you do a DBB turbo, with a 2.4l, and a divided exhaust housing/divided manifold you can get it to spool at idle. :)

Re: "50 trim" vs ball bearing "50 trim"?
I've had great success with my DBB 50 trims. I think they are a great dsm street turbo. The ballbearing center cartigage cuts down on spool-up between gears, etc.
I am actually going to be selling my 50 trims very soon. They are DBB PTE 5031RE's , with the heavy duty wastegate actuators. T04E comp cover, .63 exhaust housing. I would like to get $750 each as they have some wear, but less than 6,000 miles on them. They retail for $1199 plus the wastegate actuator. BTW these are the td05 bolt-on's for dsm's. |
Re: "50 trim" vs ball bearing "50 trim"?
Thanks guys, you answered what I wanted to know. I think I will shoot for a DBB one with a T3 housing. I know some of you are going to cringe when I say this, but I am thinking I will also go internally gated. By the way, what's everyone's favorite T3 manifold these days?
ecoli - that's just nuts. Thanks again! |
Re: "50 trim" vs ball bearing "50 trim"?
50trim size turbo, I would say internal gate and a ported 2g or similar manifold will do just fine.
