2g maf in 1g
 

tried searching, but does the 2g maf plug right into the 1g harness.. i want to get rid of the ugly 1g airbox

and do i need a translator?

You have to wire it in. You can either wire in a conversion plug, or just hack wire to wire. Be sure to use solder. Also, don't forget that the 2G mas flows about 20% more air than the 1G MAS per Hz, so you'll have to tune out the difference somehow.

Unless you have some 550's to slap in there, but even then yes, you need something to tune it with, AFC, DSMLlink, etc.
