Strange Noise from Drivetrain
When I get on it from a stand still (not launching) I hear this loud pop/snap coming from the transfer case area. Could this be a bad yoke in the t-case? Fluid is full in the t-case, I may have overfilled it once though on accident. Car is a 97 GSX, ACT 2100 and Shep tranny for drivetrain mods.

Check your motor/tranny mounts, sounds like one is broken.

Re: Strange Noise from Drivetrain
I checked them when I replaced my clutch in August when trying to diagnose another problem, and I rarely drive the car. They all seemed fine. The only one I couldn't confirm 100% if it was ok was the shitty designed rear motor mount that you can barely reach. I felt it with my hands and everything seemed intact, but that was just from feeling it and visually seeing as much as I could, I hope that's not it because I have no idea how to replace that without removing the motor.

Re: Strange Noise from Drivetrain
That's probably the one that's bad. You can't tell by feeling it, you could have someone let out the clutch with the emergency brake on and see if the motor lifts up more than an inch or so in the rear. You'll have to take out the battery and some other stuff to get at it.

Re: Strange Noise from Drivetrain
I'm not sure 100% if the noise comes from the T-Case or the rear, but definitely in the middle of the car. I can feel the thumb or snap or w/e it is in the chasis. Could it also be the rear end thump issue, the carrier bearing fix? I'm going to try to get to the rear motor mount to check it tonight.

It really does sound like the motor mounts, unless something is hitting the hood or something. The engine moves quite a bit with stock mounts in.

Re: Strange Noise from Drivetrain
Ok well me and Corey (rst95eclipse) checked out that back motor mount and we could only get to two of the three bolts that I loosened when I did my clutch. When I did my clutch I did not take out the one bolt that goes through the back motor mount, I took out the three bolts that hold the motor mount bracket onto the engine block. I always found this easier, I dunno. One of the bolts was a tad loose, but that may have been the problem because I couldn't get that sound to come back afterwards. I got on it a few times afterwards and no thump/pop/snap sound. I'll have to keep watching it though I guess. But good diagnosis, thanks guys. We did however find that the T-Case is spewing fluid like mad out the back, the yoke has to be bad. I'm going to refill my motor mounts next time I have to do something major.
