Re: Somebody famous actually serving their country
There are many ways to serve your country, being in the armed forces is but one. That article makes what he's doing sound fantastic - poor Harry, he's had to drink "non-alchoholic beverages" - when it's actually probably not really enjoyable at all.
Is the point of this post to try and get more American celebrities into the Iraq war? Or just for something interesting to know? |
Re: Somebody famous actually serving their country
I think it was to piss off all the liberals.

Re: Somebody famous actually serving their country
This is going to be a thread somewhat about politics that Tom can't take totally off topic! Ban FTW!

Re: Somebody famous actually serving their country
Basically it's pointing out someone that obviously doesn't have to go, but wants to help his country and actually do something, instead of talking about it like our politicians and celebrities. Elvis was drafted but I think was kept back in a safer position because of his celebrity, he didn't complain though and served his country. That just seems to be gone these days, the rich tend to think of the military as a bunch of vagrants who can't do anything else. Sad.
And yeah, without even trying, I've pissed off the libs once again. :bengals: http://solair.eunet.yu/~uplink/mickey-finger.GIF |

Fattyboombatty is on a ban vacation too, so the conservatives have pretty much free reign!

Re: Somebody famous actually serving their country
I think it is great considering another hard part of being there is being away from everything you know.

Re: Somebody famous actually serving their country
Not all American celebrities are like that. That one NFL player died in combat, sorry I don't remember his name.
Drew Carry was also in the Marines. That one raggae sounding rapper Shaggy was in the Marines, Mr. Rogers a marine sniper with dozens of confirmed kills. I agree it's not common, but there are a few out there. |

Re: Somebody famous actually serving their country
Apparently the sniper rumor is bunk. But I found this interesting after reading all about him on Wikipedia.
On the eve of the announcement that Mister Rogers' Neighborhood would cease production of new episodes, TV Guide interviewed Rogers and led the story with an anecdote. Apparently, Rogers had been driving the same car for years, an old second-hand Impala. Then it was stolen from its parking spot near the WQED studio. Rogers filed a police report, the story was picked up by local news outlets, and general shock swept across town. Within 48 hours, the car was back in the spot where he left it, along with a note saying, "If we'd known it was yours, we never would have taken it!" |
Re: Somebody famous actually serving their country
Ha ya I just read around. Here I've thought that rumor was true for years. Oh well, thanks for setting it straight.

Re: Somebody famous actually serving their country
Pat Tillman was the football player. Him and his brother both went in following 9/11.
