rod cap help

2 Attachment(s)
ok so I put together the motor and it was turning over poorly so i isolated the problem to this rod cap. the bearing does not fit properly as it is a little big, I have some pictures but its probably hard to see. all the other bearings were the right size and I have had no problems turning the crank with this one rod out but when i reinstall it its real hard to turn and its like it gets stuck. Is it possible to file the bearing down a couple of thousanths to get the cap to seat properly?

Re: rod cap help

Did you keep the caps with the correct rods during the build? Is that cap backwards or something? It obviously isnt the one that was machined with that rod.

Re: rod cap help

the cap is the right way but the thing is I used a rod from my 4g64 and the cap came from the 63 I believe but I'm not sure, from what I was reading they use the same rods. the bearing that does not fit correctly is on the rod not the cap.

You need a rod and cap that were machined together. You cant switch caps around with out having them remachined.

You still can't mix and match rod caps between different rods or main caps or cam caps.

thanks, they are not mixed they are on the original rods they came from I just mixed up two caps and had them on the opposite rods.
