Headgasket break-in period?
I just finished installing a MLS 4 layer headgasket with copper spray tonight. Now I'm wondering how long I should let it break in before I boost the car? My friend used MLS on his GTP and and let it break in for 300 miles. What do you guys think?

Re: Headgasket break-in period?
I've never broke a head gasket in, as long as you torqued the head down properly you shouldn't have a problem.

Re: Headgasket break-in period?
I just replaced my Mitsu MLS with a Mitsu composite gasket. I let the car warm up nice (mainly to make sure there was no coolant leaks or anything) then proceded to beat the hell out of it almost immediatly. It's been holding up fine ever since.

Check for leaks and drive it like you stole it.

Re: Headgasket break-in period?
RETORQ your head studs after 100 miles!!

Re: Headgasket break-in period?
I will retorque them after a couple heat cycles about 3 times or so to be sure.

Re: Headgasket break-in period?
If you torque the studs right the first time a re-torque is not needed.

Re: Headgasket break-in period?
Remember to apply black loctite to the threads and torque to 200 lb/ft.
