D16 Vtec + Megasquirt.

Ok....so my DD bitch is REALLY pissing me off.

$500 purchase price right? good deal right? WRONG.

Items replaced so far:
-Pads+Rotors $70
-4 new tires $250
-Rear wheel bearings $120
-Exhaust $200
-Transmission - not technically needed, but much nicer now $60
-Front right wheel bearing - unnecessary, turned out to be: $100
-Front right Axle, seizing a little bit every turn $100
-car came without seats: 4 replacement seats $50

Not so bad, car still needs a stereo.

On the way home, the car began generating less and less power, first i could not accelerate in 5th, then in 4th....etc...

so i made it home, it barely runs.

150-150-150-150 timing belt still crisp.
Gas from holiday ~43.5 PSi while running
Stock ecu.
car turns on and runs (shitty)

getting great fuel pressure, so the filter cannot be clogged.

New distributer, plugs, wires....etc

car is MAP stock, so there is nothing really to check.

Too many codes to check, I don't care anymore LOL

MEGASQUIRT + WBo2=HAHAHAHAHAHHA

Ordered today, should have her installed and bucking by the weekend.

Looks like they sell complete T3 turbo kits ~$500 (Manifold, turbo, lines, exhaust)

LOL, i hate cars.

When losing power, just turbo it. I like your logic.

Re: D16 Vtec + Megasquirt.

well, my logic is: car is broke, megasquirt is $150 shipped, and it WILL fix ALL of the cars running issues.

and since megasquirt runs with a map sensor stock, and can accept boost stock WHY NOT TURBO IT?!?!?!?

Sounds like a vacuum problem to me.

My truck got the same symptoms when the EGR valve seized.

Like I said, I like your logic haha. Should be a fun car.

This is easier to find when boost is running thru the lines.

Re: D16 Vtec + Megasquirt.

maybe it's just the fact that it's a civic?

Re: D16 Vtec + Megasquirt.

What you talking about? civics = fuel economy & reliability. or so I thought.

Do you think, that, even if the EGR was jammed all the way open, would it cause issues like this?

And vacuum leaks? this car is MAP, it reads the pressure in the manifold and adjusts fuel accordingly, vaccum leaks on this car = irrelevant.

Re: D16 Vtec + Megasquirt.

lol thats how it's suppose to be! i used to have a civic, and my whole family hated it.... and yes this is an AZN family, crazy ya i know, but we like dsm's.

i wish i knew more about them to help ya, all i know is they are easy to work on?

Well, eventually, this thing is gonna get little evo'ed, but until then, this bitch has got some commuting to do.

Re: D16 Vtec + Megasquirt.

is it misfiring? i know those ditributors can be whacky on these cars? i dont' remember though

Re: D16 Vtec + Megasquirt.

Replaced distributor, issue the same. I could have 2x bad distributors, but it is unlikely.

I'll have to dig out the Chilton for it, I sold the truck years ago. I didn't do much work on it myself, so I'm not sure if it was MAP or MAF. It was the Isuzu 2.4l, if anyone knows.

Regardless, when the valve seized, it wouldn't even idle without being held at partial throttle.

Check the intake manifold gasket and all lines/emissions attached to the intake manifold.

is it rotated the right direction? the plugs in the right order on the distributor? i know if you rotate it, it changes the timing or something.

What year is the car and what CELs does it have?

it's a map car if it had a vacuum leak it would idle high not low. and as for vacuum leaks being irrelavent they still are relavent they just cause different problems then they would on a maf car. a stuck open egr valve could cause this though

Re: D16 Vtec + Megasquirt.

I believe the truck was MAP, I'm not seeing a MAF in any of the pics in the book.
