Hey guys,
I am comming to the end of my list before i take the turtle out of the tracks. all that i want still is the arp head bolts, good head gasket, and remove balancer shafts. i might be able to get my hands on some 2g pistons and i was wondering if the 2g piston pin with fit on the 1g rod. also i hear that i have to bore my engine .020 over? would i be able to accomplish this with just a honing brush? any additional info on the 2g piston/1g rod deal would help me out. Thanks, Jacek |
The 7-bolt pistons use a 22mm pin where the 6-bolt use a 21mm pin. If you want the 2g pistons on your 1g rods, the rods need to be machined to accept the larger pin. Otherwise they both have an 85mm bore and depending on the wear on your cylinder walls, you shouldn't have to go oversized.

how much metal does the average honing shave off?

ok, thanks for the replies. im planning to change the pain bearings on the rods right away just because i can. i am wondering, does the crank have to be touched if i replace the rod bearings?

For the 6-bolt big rods 2G piston match, the rods also have to be narrowed to 1.040" on the small end. The wrist pin is interferance fit so small end bore needs to be smaller than the pin by .0007"
I can have it done for you, I can get you a quote tomorrow if you are interested. Just give me a call at the shop if you want. |
ill call you at high noon. :)
