Reverse Gear

I have a 1991 Eagle Talon Tsi AWD Turbo small 16G. Manuel Transmission ACT2600 clutch, short shifter( which might be the problem)

Description of problem:

A few weeks ago i bought a car. Long story short. After fixing a few things on it we tried backing it out the garage. Since we had to tow it home. The owner said it ran fine TRANNY WAS FINE! Well turns out that reverse gear is none existing. This might sound funny, but literally you can not get into reverse. Forcing it nothing, or trying to slowly shifting i had multiple people try it wouldn't go in. I contacted the previous owner. I am waiting for him to get back to me. In the mean time i would appreciate some suggestions. I think it is the short shifter i don't know what about the shifter linkage or bearings that could be wrong.

Drivetrain:
ACT 2600 Clutch Kit
Roller Skate Shifter Bearings
Non-Cruise Shifter Cable

For easy reference!

Thank You a head of time.

We tried that! From every angle you can possibly imagine. We let the transmission warm up thinking maybe the fluid could be the cause. No go.

you need to a just the shifter cables

Re: Reverse Gear

Try moving it to reverse manually with the shift levers on the actual transmission. Also, make sure the shift levers aren't coming in contact with something such as a large intake pipe.

Re: Reverse Gear

The shifter cables probaly need to be adjusted. Use two 10mm wrenches underneath your shift boot and adjust away.

Ok i guess i can give those suggestions a try. My question though if i can move it into reverse manually but not through the shifter inside the car what good will it do me?
Any more suggestions?

That right there tells me that the cables need adjusting. Also check for missing bushings in the entire shifter assembly. I had this problem once and it was as simple as that.

Thats exactly why the linkage inside the car needs to be adjusted.

It'll tell you the cables need adjusting and/or there is something wrong with short-shifter.
