Ive been looking at dropzone lowering springs, and was wondering if anyone knew if they were good or what. but also wondering if anyone knows around how much it would cost to have a shop install them, just a average price. please let me know what you think about the springs and prices
thanks

Dropzone springs are pretty crappy. You will be much better off saving an additional $50-100 and getting something decent. For cheap, yet good, springs, look towards Progress or Sprint. Are you lowering the car for handing? Looks? Combination of both? For an install, figure a few hours of shop labor. It really isn't too tough, you'll just need to rent a spring compressor (Autozone free, Checker a few $$$). Be sure to get some new aftermarket shocks as well, lowering the car on stock shocks is a bad idea.

I have spring compressors you can use.

Yeah, i'm getting a good spring compressor, the one with hidraulic jack to compress... :)
I wouldn't go with those springs, about the only one's i'm going to go with is the 1.3" drop Eibach Pro or Sportline but that is too big of a drop 2.1" and i don't want that much.

Enes, Progress springs for 2G FWD are awsome...very nice handling and an agressive drop.

I don't want too slamed of a look.. 1.3" drop will be plenty for me i think.. the front end is low as it is..11

I had the intrax 1.75 springs on my 95 gsx and they worked great. handled awsom and still rode good for comuting. Also they are easy to install. I only spent about 2 hr max front and rear.

The Prokits made my car look awesome. :bounce:

You don't need spring compressors for a dsm. Just take them out and put the new springs and stops in and bolt it all together. It is easy if you have just basic tools.

A//// Guy 04-19-2004 10:11 PM

You only need spring compressors if your putting in the stock springs, because they are longer than lowering springs...

Kracka 04-19-2004 10:14 PM

I think this kid was thinking about putting new springs on the stock shocks, so he would still need to compress the stock spring (or let it fly across the yard) to get it off. Aren't Pro-Kit springs still under preasure even when the shock is at full extension? Guess it really doesn't matter since he hasn't been back since.

tsiawdspeed 04-19-2004 11:35 PM

When I installed the prokits on the rear shocks, I did not need to use a spring compressor. This could be different for the front or for the 1G.

this is what i use for springs... it works great and a lot less hassle.. and 100 times safer.. quicker and cleaner :)

A//// Guy 04-20-2004 01:14 PM

That is way overkill and its not cleaner as it takes up a good amount of garage floor space. You use it once and then it will just sit wont it ;)

Enes 04-20-2004 01:46 PM

i might use it once for my car, but unlike you i have a few friends that cold use them as well ;) lol j/k...

no it will be actually used on at least 4 cars in near future...

I was very satisfied with the drop of the Progress springs on my Laser. It was somewhere around 1.6" and they felt/looked nice. :)
